Quelle suprise.  Hopefully we'll see the end of the trail of ECCC players out East during the first part of the season.

I wouldn't bet your mortgage on it.

The IPL is just musical chairs on a grand scale.

So long as some outfit is prepared to pay RTD a king's ransom to carry the drinks he'll be there like a shot.

If this corruption continues then hopefully we'll see the demise of the IPL completely.

It's not corruption but apathy that finishes off sports. A BBC Indian correspondent mentioned the decline in attendance once the big name Indian stars began moving away from their home teams for more money and franchises moved around. Once people realise that the players care little for these fake teams beyond securing another contract - and are prepared to throw matches then this will continue.

This is why franchise sport doesn't work - no real connection with Jo Public. There's still some credibility in the EPL - based upon the fact that the likes of Man Utd et al did develop strong fan bases locally, regionally and nationally over the decades - although attendances are falling even there.
