Thanks for message, the Pavilion will be open for all. spinners for the Cardiff friendly. A couple of food options in the Pavilion.

Use of executive box for the Premier Suite Members.

Hope that helps, thanks, Danny.

At this time of year the Pavillion has to be the place to be, just for warmth if nothing else.

Yeah, you wouldn't want to do anything daft like drink a pint of Master Spew.

Membership cards are required for these matches but I'm guessing admission is free. Public seating is behind the marque on the outfield so what system is operating for tomorrow with regard to admittance and seating access for general public please.

It's *all* free entrance for everyone....just as it has been for years.

I found the membership cards are required bit strange as its free to all.

Good mornng,

From today we will be scanning membership cards when members enter the ground. We wanted to test the system at the friendlies ahead of the Kent game. Thanks

Hi Danny,

For what reason are membership cards going to be scanned? Will they also be scanned on re-entry after lunch/tea/etc ?

Thanks.

Morning, this helps us know the number of people in the ground and for us to better understand what games and days Members attend.

Thanks

So, they'll be scanned on leaving during intervals too then?   ... and on return.

I suppose as long as it doesn't hold up entry or egress there's not too much harm in it, but it seems a bit "big brother-ish".

Members don't generally attend day 4.

Or in my case at all.

Why was it knocked on the head the last time?
The stewards already click a little counter as people first enter the ground, and I expect this scanning will fall by the wayside after a while, when the scanning machines play up.

Hi, I was not working at ECCC when we last tested it fully. We are teasing it over the friendlies and with the development in the technology the process will be quicker. Thanks

Is it the supporters that are really responsible for No Change Essex?
Every time the club attempts to change or introduce something it results in people coming on here asking why?  ;D

Mainly because the changes the club do undertake are window dressing.

I mean who honestly gives a stuff about colour coded lanyards or being scanned like a frozen chicken at Sainsbury's.

I think VP is right, these are cosmetic changes. However, the management have found themselves in a world where they can't compete for talent, or even retain it, whilst the new broom at the top of the ECB couldn't give a monkeys about the non-test hosting counties.

In a way, I'd prefer to see KP come back as England skipper, screw it up badly (again) then hopefully that will undermine this stupid Yorkshire grocer before he starts having too long to implement any grand plans.

Somerset seem to do okay (Chris Gayle) & they're my benchmark for Essex.

Funnily enough they picked up when they picked an overseas (Langer) as captain ...

So you mean where it says on every other page of the membership magazine that we are going to win the T20 this year, really we're not even contenders, i find that hard to believe.

By now Larry must know he can say whatever the hell he likes.

There's never any comebacks after all.

For 6 games maximum.  If his team make the finals of the IPL it will be 4 or 5.  Would you not rather have Ryder for 14 games than Gayle for 4-6.

Steady on ... you should know that facts can't beat prejudice.

To be fair - I had in mind home (grown) talent as much as overseas. Notice how the ones we've picked up tend to have an awful lot of 'baggage' (e.g. Ryder & Monty), although I like the idea of the club as a place for redemption we used to ick up the cream of talent, when we needed to do so.

For 6 games maximum.

I was responding to Andy's point about non-test match counties not being able to attract talent.

Essex are just badly run.

The club has done scanning before i dont see this being too much of problem.

The problem I see is when several hundred people head for the town centre at 1.00pm and there's one poor sod trying to scan everyones card. Its hard enough squeezing in a pint/ meal in 40 mins without wasting 10 mins getting scanned.

Danny,

You didn't answer all of my earlier question. Are you going to scan all those who leave and return during the intervals?

Thanks.

When there were scanners before, an interesting fact came to light.

A high percentage of the members never turned up for a game all season.

There used to be a member who moved to Brighton and was also a Sussex member. Who only turned up for the Sunday League game at Southchurch Park mainly for a reunion. He stopped coming as he noticed that some of people he was hoping to meet would rather drink all game in the hockey club pavilion.

Still it is amazing how some people's life revolves entirely around alcohol.

Since being married and having children I have found alcohol a great friend.

Shepherd Neame is the enemy though.

That’s as well as, I think, Garon Park and Larry.

Mr P, you must lead an embittered life.

I think you'll find it's the lack of decent bitter that forms the basis of the Shepherd Neame complaint. ;)

& even the club gave up on the windswept wastes of Barren Park.

& hopefully the windbag waster Larry at some point in my lifetime.

I did wonder about writing a dis-em-bittered life!

Mind, on a scale of 1-10 Shepherd Neame's bitter ranks, IMHO, above Oranje whatsit lager, even on a very hot day!

I don’t, admittedly drink the stuff, but still better than Oranji-whatsit.
