Essex II vs Northants II starts at Coggeshall Tuesday 11am. Wonder who'll be in the sides? Chambers played in a recent Northants II's game. Could Cook be coming back to get some practice? As, IIRC, Gooch did once upon a time!
And there's a Beer Festival.

And there's a Beer Festival.
Jesse will be there then.
-
I take it that it's a proper beer festival with no Shepherd Neame?

Nat: That would be good. Grayson's been there in the past.
VP: Highly unlikely. They've never been before. Several smaller Essex breweries.
Given that the weather forecast's good and I've nothing else to do, I shall make a determined effort to sample all those there! Whether I shall be able to report is doubtful!

This is the first time that Coggeshall week has fallen in the school holiday for some while, I think. I shall try to go Thursday with my lad and his pal. Also looking for a day at Halstead in August

If the range is as extensive as last time I went a couple of years ago, you'll have trouble with that !!
-
Top day out with a range of local and Northants brews for £3. I shall be looking to go next year by public transport
-
You'll be very welcome, Slogger. Sorry I didn't find you. And to anyone else from this board who went.
For the record, Essex won by 8 wickets, with a century for Foakes, who replaced Smith on the third day. (Don't ask!!!)
Otherwise I'm doing my best with the beers, although one was £1 per pint this afternoon due to local problems! Which meant I had to do my best to help clear the blockage!

Once again a great effort by the Coggeshall club, who really deserve to be supported as well as they are, and a decent result for the 2s albeit against weak opposition. I was impressed by Daniel Lawrence especially. I didn't get much of a look at Tom Craddock bowling because I missed the first day and some of this morning-how did he go?
-
Apparently difficult to play, although both sides said it was a much better track for batting than bowling. Agree about Lawrence, too.
-
Essex scraped home in the 50 over game, after some big hitting from Mahmood and a scary 9th wicket partnership from Moore and Craddock. The latter was the guy who held it together at the death!
I didn't manage to have one of every beer, but I did manage most of them. Home is within easy walking distance.
-
Thanks for the update! Glad you got home in one piece. And on Monday at Kelvedon Cc you can see Netherlands v Denmark under 19s in the ICC championships-maybe another beer tent to try?
-
Very enjoyable at Coggeshall this week.
A good batting wicket, and some useful performances.
Mickleburgh and Foakes both got hundreds and I like the look of Lawrence who got an unbeaten 85.
Monty appeared in the 50 over game, held a couple of catches and took a wicket or two.
I was disappointed with the bowling of Moore and Craddock, who were not at their best, but for the 50 over game Foakes put in a good display wicketkeeping.
If you've not been to Coggeshall book it in for next season, it's well worth a visit.

Thanks Postman. Stayed to watch the children’s waterside, but left when the adults got involved. Those who were there 10 minutes after the end will know what I mean. It’s been going on fort about 8 years now I think, and has become something of a tradition! And the under 19 series moves on the Coggeshall at the end of next week.
Agree, Perov, about Lawrence. Batted well. Gather he’s 17?
