A new venue. So, if it is washed out. There will be a fair few unhappy ground hoppers.

Go, get a life.

It doesn't look the most scenic compared to some other outgrounds. No rain forecast for tomorrow. I wonder how good the stream is going to be?

Will there be interruptions from Telegram Sam? Still it mutes, the wittering of the job creation scheme for ex players.

Has Barren Park been memory holed?

Just logged in, and I can see that Middlesex have made sure no expense was spared with the facilities.

A lot more scenic than I thought though, who knows what I was looking at. And the pitch looks to be playing than Lord's did this week, even if the facilities aren't quite the same.

Can Essex defend 177? It will be close and Middlesex have Holden and du Plooy, with Rossington almost certain to make a big score against Essex.

Fine innings from both Benkenstein and Allison. It was slow going at the start, but Allison in particular accelerated well. It does feel about 20 runs short.

Or maybe not :-)

Gem of an innings from Critchley.

Really good performance after a slow start.
Allison and Benky were superb.

Winning by 60 runs is a right shellacking in T20. A great all round performance and good to see the much maligned, but much improved, Noah Thain getting 3 wickets. Snater, Bennett, Mulder and Akhter also bowled well. So 3 wins for Essex, untold riches.

But this is a really poor Middlesex side. And what was up with the coverage?. There was the only one commentator on the YouTube commentary and he had to cover the whole match. The BBC London stream seemed to be down. I'm not sure if they actually planned to cover it, but to show it in the list of commentaries on the BBC website and then for it not to work at all is very poor.

They've both started the competition very well, which is obviously a big positive.  On the flip side I could see both getting into everyones favourite 100 ball tournament as either replacement players or wildcards which would leave us with very little batting wise in the 50 over comp.

There was a BBC commentary, but the Middlesex commentators were dire and our offering was Don Topley, so I didn't hang around for long.

A lot more scenic than I thought though

I like Merchant Taylors'

I'll take their Egyptian geese over those fricking flamingos at Whitgift.

Maybe it just didn't work on mobile. Oh well, it sounds like a lucky escape!. Although, given it was Don Topley on commentary, I could have just opened a window. I'm about 40 miles away, but I'm sure I would have heard him.

Up to 2nd in the table with a game in hand on 3rd placed Surrey, and with a healthy run rate. Some tougher games to come after the break though, including Surrey twice. But the young players are really stepping up.

The Middlesex T20 kit is pretty awful - is it the worst of the bunch?

It includes the name of every cricket club in Middlesex so I'd give it a pass.

& it's nowhere as bad as the 100 monstrosities.
