from the Cricketer online (paywalled):
"Essex are facing the prospect of more upheaval after their chair was accused of lying on his CV.
Anu Mohindru, a barrister who was part of the legal team which defended Ben Stokes when he was charged with affray in 2018, appeared before a Bar disciplinary tribunal in London on Monday (8th September).
The Times reports that he faces two allegations of "dishonesty". Specifically, it is alleged he "lied on his CV by saying that he had studied biomedical science at Oxford University before qualifying as a doctor".
The Bar Standards Board accepts Mohindru studied at a medical school in the US, but claims he "did not complete the full MD programme".
It is also alleged that, when he applied for tenancy at 23 Essex Street chambers in 2013, he claimed to have played in the Varsity match for Oxford and later represented the MCC.
The tribunal was told Mohindru "conducted himself discreditably and behaved in a way likely to diminish trust and confidence in the legal profession".
Mohindru, who has been chair of Essex CCC since October 2023, denies all the charges and, according to The Times, claims "his CV was tampered with". The hearing is scheduled to last for seven days.
If the complaint is upheld, Mohindru could be disbarred. It is also likely to make his role at Essex untenable."

Both a scholar and a gentleman
-
Anyone going to the after play forum - it could be interesting.
This news is ironic given his objection to Alan Higham presenting the petition for an SGM.
-
If this is true. Then the Chambers were really on the ball. As, anyone who played received a Blue in recent years. Will be recorded in Wisden.
-
Before jumping to conclusions here, a word of warning: years ago, I saw how my CV had been re-written by an agency (without my permission) - it made me sound like ******** superman, which I sure ain't.
-
These companies that write CV's or assist applicants for Public positions. It are not worth anyone's time. Evidence of this, when the BBC were looking for suitable external candidates to be the Director General. The only applicant worth interviewing was, Ed Richards, the CEO of Ofcom. Who sent his CV in personally.
-
When I used agencies, that wrote my CV in their format, I would always take my own CV to an interview just to be certain there was no misunderstanding.

I did the same once I wised up

We are into the third day of the hearing.
Is it conducted behind closed doors, so we will not read what was said.

I had a look at the results of earlier hearings.
There are some right naughty boys, in the profession. One of them, who was struck off for misconduct. Has advised me, of chat up lines, that are not to be used.
-
Now he has been found guilty on one count and disbarred from being a barrister, will he resign or get fired? Not had much luck since John Farragher was stitched up, perhaps the members should be allowed to choose a replacement this time.
-
Essex County Cricket Club said its board would meet at the weekend to discuss an appropriate course of action. Be interesting to see what the outcome is.
-
Here are the details

Angela Rayner or Peter Mandelson would be ideal. Both out of work...
-
From reading the report. I would suggest that if he had pleaded guilty he would not have been disbarred. As he contested the case and by so doing accused someone else of falsifying his CV, he should be sacked as our Chairman.

Well if he isn't sacked then the members will have to do it (EGM etc.).

He should save them the trouble and do the decent thing immediately.
-
The way it's going we'll have to have Hilliard back.

Was he one of those who had JF replaced? Big Ronnie was proactive in that removal iirc maybe he could return with some cheap orthopaedic shoes for aged members.

Reported by the BBC now:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cj4y9llqy2wo
'The chairman of Essex County Cricket Club (ECCC) has been disbarred by the Barristers' Tribunal Service over claims he lied about studying at Oxford University.
Criminal lawyer Anurag Mohindru faced an allegation of fabricating his academic credentials to boost a job application to a top barrister's chamber.
Mr Mohindru was immediately suspended following the five-day tribunal, pending any appeal, and was ordered to pay nearly ?55,000 in costs. A second professional misconduct charge was dropped.
Essex County Cricket Club said its board would meet at the weekend "to discuss an appropriate course of action".'

Unfortunately the club is mirroring the government. Last week Andy Tennant left rather 'surprisingly' and now this. Not good for the club in any aspect.
-
Blimey! Debarred, homeless, destitute. Well it could have been worse he could have allegedly used an outmoded expression!

Irregardless of anyone?s political persuasion, quote is irrelevant to comings and goings with the club .
-
Thats my last input.
-
The question is. When will liar liar, pants on fire be going.
-
I would wish to have thanked our now departed Forum member for all their work. Unfortunately, I cannot think of anything that I saw them do, to give thanks for.

Could say the same for the management at the club
-
This is making East and Hilliard, look like safe pairs of hands.
-
Pay peanuts get monkeys.
-
What would Mr Edwards have thought about this fiasco. It beggars belief.
-
Thanks for going.

Essex County Cricket Club can confirm that Club Chair Anu Mohindru has stood down as a Board Member with immediate effect.
He informed the Board of his decision at a meeting on Sunday.
Following the meeting the Board has decided that Jason Gallian will act as Interim Chair whilst Vicky Ford will assume the position of Interim Deputy Chair.
Essex County Cricket Club would like to place on record its thanks to Anu for his leadership and significant contribution during his time as Chair of the Club.
-
I wonder who the club will be told to apoint now.
-
Not Vicky Ford! Liz Truss's greatest admirer!
-
Not Vicky Ford! Liz Truss's greatest admirer!
Ahhh the ex-MP.
-
Vicky Ford is an interim appointment, before she returns to her Party. Will there still be a Party to return to.
-
Is Alan Lilley free?
-
Pay peanuts get monkeys.
Hey that is discrimination against monkeys.
-
I see that they have handed Jason Gallian, the poisoned Chalice.
-

Depends which blue party she opts for.
-
Reform UK are purple, not blue.
On the commentary, Toppers confirmed that the name on the door of the Chairman's office is written in chalk. By reminding all of us, of the previous Chairman who lasted three days.
-
Not Vicky Ford! Liz Truss's greatest admirer!
Not keen on Vicky Ford, since she used to churn out the "Build back Better" comment at every opportunity.
-
Reform UK are purple, not blue.
I think they wear black shirts though

That doesn?t have any relevance whatsoever to the role she is fulfilling on an interim basis. What is more important is her knowledge of cricket.
-
Visit a Post Office and rather than stick it on a letter. Write down on the back of the postage stamp, what she knows about cricket.
Still, it is useful to appoint someone, who has plenty of spare time. Do not schedule the meetings for signing on time.
-
I am sure that Ms Ford is a scholar and a gentlewoman.
-
i wonder if Anu was in the crowd when Cantona famously Kung Fu kicked a fan at Selhurst Park?
A certain DOC was there...................oh wait no he wasnt!!!!!
Perhaps he was on the ground for Warney's ball of the century to remove the Gat?
Fiction is often more interesting than reality!
-
Good point made on Talk Radio this morning.
If Mohindru was sacked for lying on his c.v., why is Rachel Reeves still chancellor of the exchequer?
-
I wonder who did the due diligence on his appointment to the Board.
-
The claim was being present when Roy Keane carried out his horror tackle. One problem was, he was batting at Grace Road that day until close of play.
-
I wonder who did the due diligence on his appointment to the Board.
No one. He ticked some boxes given what was going on.
Could jf come back in a sea of glory perhaps

Not much based on my experiences
-
Today, a name was mentioned regarding the mystery person that was dismissed. It was not him. He was released, due to the Women's team. Not being very good.

"Mr Anurag Mohindru, a barrister and BSB regulated individual, engaged in dishonest and/or discreditable conduct and/or behaved in a way which is likely to diminish the trust and confidence in the legal profession or the administration of justice or otherwise bring the profession into disrepute in that, in the course of an application for tenancy at 23 Essex Street chambers, which he initiated in November 2012, he knowingly misled or attempted to mislead members of those chambers by asserting that he had studied biomedical science and/or medicine at Oxford University which statement(s) he knew to be untrue in that he knew he had not attended Oxford University."

As I said a scholar and a gentleman.
-
They were not bothered about the claims of who he had played cricket for. No doubt, everyone has exaggerated their skills in the past.
-
Mr Mohindru KC has appealed the Tribunal's decision therefore the disbarment will not take effect until the outcome of the appeal is known. Mr Mohindru remains suspended.
