No thread has been started for this yet.
I checked that there is a game tonight. I had a vision of the Kent team and the Umpires turning up, to find an empty ground, as no one from Essex could take it any more.
-
Same team line-up. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again...
-
With 18 players and take off, one who is in Scotland and another who is a 1984 non-person. That does not leave much choice.
-
Essex won the toss and will bowl first.
Elgar, Pepper, Cox, Walter, Benkenstein, Critchley, Allison, Thain, Harmer, Snater, Amir
Kent:
Bell-Drummond, Muyeye, Finch, Billings, Leaning, Denly, Rogers, Evison, Klaassen, Parkinson, Gilchrist
-
On the live stream, the chat has been disabled. Is it the Indian gambling causing the issue, or something else?
To quote the Duke of Wellington. Publish and be dammed.
-
I hope we lose every game now. Only then will things maybe change it they come out with reasons as to wtf is going on at the club.
Looks another nailed on loss tonight
-
Well, they have to hit the ground running, to get this target. The run rate is already creeping up, after one over.
-
Jordan Cox, our best player (and there is a low bar) will save us.
-
Parky > Walter ::)
-
As I predicted in another T20 thread. Parkinson has just got his career best.
-
I wonder who will do the post match interview?
I'm guessing Eddie the Eagle.
Harmer and Silverwood will go missing.
Eddie can talk about his relationship with Edna, how the fans loved his feathers, and their plans for a baby Eagle...lots of positives and things can change so quickly in this format.
Standard head in the sand BS......

Console yourself with this thought. It's not proper cricket. That's why Ciderset are good at it.

If you had not played rubbish Cox and Harmer, Billings would not have the ammunition to wind you up.
-
86 needed off 3 overs. We're still in this!
-
I'm guessing Harmer isn't very happy.
-
A pity Billings didn't wind up Harmer a bit earlier.
But apart from that it was fairly horrible.
At least the proper cricket is now back for a couple of weeks.
-
Now we need the contributor, with his false indignation, The Grumbler, to have his say.
-
The match was already over as a contest by the time I tuned in, but I did at least get to see the Harmer psychodrama. That innings doesn't make up for any of it, but it was weirdly impressive. God knows where the team goes from here though.
-

He's a mouthpiece for the club far too concerned with not tarnishing his perks to say anything meaningful or critical of the shambles that Essex are currently.

I haven?t read much of him recently but he was on twitter a few months ago saying that Essex deserved a points deduction as a result of what appeared in the racism report so he certainly wasn?t much of a club mouthpiece then!

Oh he is , wanted that rather than a fine. Absolutely 'right on' hand wringer, the same is true of his career from those who have crossed paths with him. Absolutely nothing in the report to warrant what he said should have happened. Suspect he was too busy graffiting military transport planes to have watch us yesterday.

Harmer still thinks we have a chance of qualifying! If the club have anything about them they will tell him and Elgar that if they want a rest this year then they can miss the rest of the T20 but they?re playing in the 50 over comp. With the rubbish we?ve witnessed this year there is no excuse not to play the best possible XI in that. It might be a second rate competition but when you have given so little in the top two competitions then surely you have to try and win that.
-
Pardon my ignorance but who are you referring to as the mouthpiece of Essex.
Can I assume by naming names, no one will be vilified with bringing the game or the club into disrepute.
I have only followed the match through the progressive comments on the Board and increasingly depressing they were.
As one of the contributors rightly asked, where does the Club go from here? We appear to have no money so cannot buy ourselves out of trouble and with the way matters are going who would want to come to Essex in their present state.
I note Sams is now playing at Notts. A useful white ball player, on his day a match winner.
Did we reject him, could we not afford him or did he just want to play elsewhere maybe receiving better terms than we could offer?

Well Harmer must be deluded or suffering with mental arithmetic deficiency.
We can now (joke joke) win a maximum of 6 games having already lost 7.
It would take some sort of statistical quirk for a team to finish 4th out of 9 yet winning less games than they have already lost.
Just front up Harmer, and tell us deserving members (and non-members for that matter), what the HELL is going on at our club?
-
Well that was a bit of last minute fun from Harmer (shame he can't do that when there is still actually a match to be won!!) but apart from that it was another humiliating, embarrassing performance. Surprisingly there was a very good crowd still, but as it was a white ball Friday night thrash type crowd, then most probably couldnt care less who won or how pathetic Essex are right now, as long as they had a pint in their hand!!
-
Kent in fourth place are on 18 points. So Essex will require at least another five wins, to overtake them. Assuming that Kent and the teams above them go on losing streaks. The problem is they play each other and both cannot both lose and a No Result will give two points.
With incidents involving Essex players and the Umpires in the last two games. I would not be surprised to hear about a point deduction.
Dream on Harmer.

Finishing on negative points would make it a record breaking season.
-
Good job I have not bothered to watch any of this tournament.
Yes I am a fair weather supporter.
Did Harmer punch anyone?
-
Last night, there were words exchanged between Cox and Billings, when Billings threw the ball at the stumps, in case Cox had moved out of his ground. There were further discussions between Harmer and Billings.
The way that Harmer was slogging the ball towards the end and not taking singles to put Amir on strike. Showed he was riled about something.

That would even top the time Middlesex finished on zero points.
-
Mags comes out hammering Yorks. What do we have. Naff all
-
No knives no points deduction IMHO. Soft lads.

Never let a Yorkshireman do a man?s job! useless.

They are also struggling in Division One of the County Championship after winning promotion last summer, with just one victory in seven matches.
"It was pretty embarrassing if I'm honest," McGrath told BBC Radio Leeds. "The last two performances have not been anywhere near good enough.
"Again, we lost our way, and anytime we have a bump in the road we seem to have a bad three or four overs and we just can't deal with that setback. We just give all the momentum away to the opposition.
"We did it a bit with the ball and then with the bat. We were going well in the powerplay, but there were six or seven overs where we got behind the rate and lost wickets. Very disappointing."
He added: "We just haven't played good enough. We had a very experienced team out there, there's no excuses.
