Essex won the toss and put Glamorgan in to bat:

Rossington, Elgar, Pepper, Das, Walter, Critchley, Charlie Allison, Harmer, Benkenstein, Ben Allison, Beard

Maybe he saves his performances for Finals Day....but Harmer really does take some punishment in T20. Batting has really declined too. Reputation is the only reason he is getting a game.

Not easy on a postage stamp sized ground such as Cardiff.

182 is probably too much with no Jordan Cox, but if Pepper gets going who knows.

After THAT shot so early in the innings, Pepper should keep out of the way of Gooch  for a few days.

He's played superbly in T20 this season, but that looked like the shot of a player who's got a bit carried away by his own hype. Needs to ask himself whether any of the very best T20 players (someone like Rohit Sharma, say) would attempt that shot to the second ball they faced.

Yep. I thought he had matured but recent innings suggest not.

Aww that's a shame. Stonking innings by Walter before that miscue.

Diabolical middle order batting. Really disappointing.

And what about Snater? I know he's gone round the park in some previous games but with so many 2nd XI players in the side, someone with a bit more experience and lower-order batting ability might have been a good idea.

Unfortunately looking at that teamsheet it was always on the cards that numbers 7-11 wouldn't contribute much. Even when Walter and Rosso were going well, I thought Glam were still favourites because we had so little batting to come.

Has to be said that Labuschagne is a remarkable all-round cricketer. Also, Mason Crane has become a very good bowler in this format.

Glamorgan bowled really well to be fair. After that Sole over that went for over 20, they shut down Walter and Rossington, frustrating both and forcing them into false shots and eventual dismissals. Rossington really struggled, didn't hit a single ball of middle of the bat after the powerplay. We lost too many powerplay wickets and a stinker of an over from Allison cost the game, gifting them 180+ rather than the 170 they should've got.

We're in trouble when it comes to qualification now. Tough run of four to finish and we need to win two at the bare minimum, while Gloucester play perennial losers Middlesex twice!

That was always likely to be too much with no Jordan Cox in the side. The top order was a bit frenetic in his absence. Bosch will be able to play in the run in and I think Cox should be available for the last 2? If Cook is fit again then the bowling suddenly looks a lot stronger. Given Essex's habit of scraping through into the QFs, all is not lost yet.

If rosso is out of contract time to call ot a day. Sort of game he should have won  for us.

Doubt he's on a small wage and his cc form has been poor and he's not making up for it in the t20 in winning us the odd game here and there. A decent keeper. But cox should get the gloves in all formats once fit and free up some wages if rosso goes.

I would question there would be much demand for him if any amongst the other 17 counties as an all format player, which says it all.

He is contracted for another year.

We would have stood a chance but for the scandalous decision to loan Khushi to Kent

Runs for him today after his first baller the other day. Consistent he's not but better than what we are picking.

Difficult to believe that this is the strongest team than we can field even allowing for injuries. Maybe we don?t actually care that much about T20 so long as we get the money in.

Yep he's running out of opportunities. I suspect he'll become a gun for hire around the franchises.
