Hampshire the only one of the teams Essex didn’t beat in the group
stage. Which means Essex are due (being positive).

The weather is looking very dodgy. Does anyone know the rain rules? Is there a reserve day?

Games have to complete 10 overs to constitute a result .
If unable to complete matches on the Saturday a reserve day is possible .

Supporters will be able to purchase a maximum of 2 tickets per person, priced at £95 for Adults and £26 for Juniors (under 16).

Tickets must be bought directly via Edgbaston and an email including a purchase link and unique promotional code will be emailed to all valid accounts ahead of each respective on sale period.

Thanks. It might be a late finish on both days looking at the current forecast, but fingers crossed it changes.

Better get practicing those straight yorkers. Could be a bowl out at the indoor school at this rate.

The weather is looking very dodgy. Does anyone know the rain rules? Is there a reserve day?

Both semi-finals and the final will be played on Finals Day.

The scheduled hours of play will be as follows:

First Semi-Final
First Session .................................... 11.00am - 12.15pm
Interval ............................................ 12.15pm - 12.30pm
Second Session ................................ 12.30pm - 1.45pm

Second Semi-Final
First Session....................................... 2.30pm - 3.45pm
Interval................................................ 3.45pm - 4.00pm
Second Session ................................. 4.00pm - 5.15pm

Final
First Session ....................................... 6.45pm - 8.00pm
Interval................................................ 8.00pm - 8.15pm
Second Session ............................... 8.15pm - 9.30pm

The Chairman of the Performance Cricket Committee will appoint a Technical Committee who will in conjunction with the Umpires, determine the rearrangement of overs and timings of matches in the case of any match being delayed or interrupted.

At all times, the objectives of the Technical Committee will be prioritized as follows:
(a) To ensure that both Semi-Finals and the Final are completed on the scheduled day of the matches (minimum overs to constitute a match is 5 overs per team).
(b) To ensure wherever possible a 20-over per side floodlit Final.
(c) To ensure that wherever possible both semi-finals are of the same duration.
(d) To ensure that wherever possible, within each match, teams have the opportunity of batting for the same number of overs.
(e) To balance the desire to achieve commercial objectives with the need to ensure matches of as long a duration as possible.

If there is a delayed start or one or more interruptions in play, the Technical Committee may order up to 30 minutes of extra time either at the break between the first and second semi-final and/or between the second semi-final and the final and/or at the end of the first day (latest re-scheduled finish tbc) and readjust the timings for matches as appropriate.

If the Technical Committee is satisfied that the Final cannot be completed on the first day, the timing for cessation of play on the first day will be 9.30pm. The available hours of play on the Reserve Day are 10.00am – 8.00pm. The availability of floodlights on the Reserve Day will be confirmed at the time

Thanks mawallace. Sunday is looking a bit more promising, but with the prospect of D/L results, more reason to win the toss and put the opposition in.

I just saw that Daniel Sams is available for Finals Day, so that's good news.

Squad for Finals Day (let's hope it's 2 matches):

Harmer, Allison, Beard, Buttleman, Cook, Critchley, Das, Lawrence, Nijjar, Pepper, Rossington, Rymell, Sams, Snater, Walter, Westley

Good luck lads. And to everyone going to Edgbaston. May the rain stay away.

Cricinfo have Finals Day preview articles on all 4 teams. The one on Essex focuses on Michael Pepper:

Essex won the toss and will bowl.

Rossington, Lawrence, Pepper, Das, Walter, Critchley, Sams, Harmer, Snater, Beard, Cook

Das for Khushi who has a fractured right hand (which presumably will keep him out for quite a while).

Excellent review (was that Rossington or Critchley?). 57-3 in the 7th. Essex pulling this back now.

171 chase. That's going to be tough. Hampshire slight favourites I think.

Terrific bowling and fielding from us for much of that innings but just lost the plot a bit in the final couple of overs, with drops and some poor balls. Maybe Walter could have bowled more at the death, thought he did a superb job when given just one over towards the end.

Commentators saying the average score for the first semi-final is 159 - OTOH the boundaries have been brought in more than usual today because of residual water on the outfield. Match probably about even at this stage, I reckon.

Only slight. About 10 runs above par.

Yet again Snater does his usual—getting the absolutely vital wicket—Vince .
Leave Beard out if we reach the final.

Took only 2.5 overs to see that the Hampshire bowling attack is far too good for us. 171 is too much, so our best chance is a reduced game and DLS working in our favour.

Revised target 115 from 12. Needs Pepper or Lawrence (or Sams) to really come off.

Pepper is a one trick pony. When the trick fails there is nothing else.

Sangakkara unimpressed by Lawrence's shot selection. "Not very smart at all". Then Walter absolutely plumb, and burns a review into the bargain. Wheels coming off.

Yes! Well done Sams, Critchley and Harmer. A reduced game is never satisfactory, but a win
is a great win. Phew.

Never say die. Thought we were imploding with that clatter of wickets earlier. Crucial innings from Sams and Critchley.

Winning with a six in the final over should henceforth be known as The Essex Way.

Called it! Shortened game allowed us to burn through wickets and job done!

The Hants bowlers were feeling the pressure too. It's certainly an impressively pacey attack - Turner looked a very tricky proposition when he first came on but his third over went for 17, including a wide and a no-ball, which might have been the match.

Critchley MotM, quite rightly.

Captain Harmer guided the side home, by not leaving it to the last delivery .
Became swingville by the end. Dawson showed his class and experience.

Brilliant from Sams, Critchley and Harmer backing themselves to hit 6s. It’s great to see nerves get to a really top team like Hampshire. I had this feeling when Lawrence announced he was leaving that we’d win the double like we did when Ravi left. COYE

Good that the fans see two Essex games. Can’t be worse that seeing your side lose the first semi .

I always feel for fans who have spent £95 and are going home after the first game. Hants probably had the longest journey today too. It's happened to us a few times, of course.

No doubt huge toss to win, chasing in a rain affected match, further benefitting from crucial run reduction.

Partnership of Critchley, what a great all rounder he is, and Sams, the player we most like to criticise for perceived under achieving, saw us through to a somewhat fortunate final, which will be tougher than this was. Thank you rain.

I thought we had chucked it away through loose bowling the last few overs, and if the match had run its full course those extra 20 runs would have been pivotal.

If luck is on your side, ensure you take full advantage. That we did in spades and great credit to the team.

As one of the Sky pundits said, possibly Cork, Essex may be underdogs but no side wants to face them. For once I agree with Cork.

We are the box of chocolates side, with more hard centres than soft.

Great great performance.

We're well past that now, surely. He's been the 'MVP' (not just for us, for anyone) over the whole tournament so far.

I don't watch Sky cricket much, but I have to say the standard of their commentators is lamentable. Constant drivel and they haven't even bothered to check out the playing conditions.

What would Richie Benaud have made of it? His watchword was only speak when you can add to what the viewer can see.

Our mascot was so slow in completing  the task, I suspect it was Katherine Newton in the costume.
