Squad for the last chance saloon:
Harmer, Allison, Beard, Buttleman, Cook, Critchley, Das, Khushi, Lawrence, Nijjar, Pepper, Rossington, Sams, Snater, Walter, Westley
Good luck lads.
-
Did Rossington drop one the other night?
Baffling that he's back keeping give buttleman has been impressive and improving with the bat.
-
Essex won the toss and will bowl:
Rossington, Lawrence, Pepper, Khushi, Walter, Critchley, Sams, Harmer, Snater, Beard, Cook
-
Snater...
-
Snater...
He needs to bat in the top 4 to take advantage of the fielding restrictions.
-
Quality innings from Rosso.
Must of really worked hard on his general fitness when nursing a finger injury.
-
Khushi! What a win against one of the best teams in the group. Fine innings from Pepper, Lawrence and Khushi. That mid innings collapse added to the drama.
Now Somerset need to beat Kent.
-
A win a win.
Did our best to lose it, made hard work of it at the end, Jordan threw it away !
Await others to do our dirty work sums up a campaign that stuttered at the end.

Cue Bell-Drummond scoring a spawny century.

True, but we have 16 points and only 1 team, Surrey in 2018, have got that many points in either group and not qualified since it went to 14 matches a side. Two of those Surrey games were no results. No team has won 8 matches and not qualified unless you count Leicestershire who were docked 2 points.

Have a little faith you lot even though this fabulous win may not be enough if our rivals the other side of The Thames confound Somerset.
The heavy losses desecrating our net run rate May well prove crucial.
Consistently inconsistent some you win some you lose, the very epitome of T20. Form or logic fly out of the window.
I never thought I would wish this but come on Somerset help us out for once.
Life in Essex yet. Never write them off.
-
Just had a horrible thought. Somerset would not let Kent win to spite us, would they.
I feel sick 👿👿👿👿👿👿👿
-
If Kent lose, we play Birmingham Bears at Edgbaston on Thursday at 6.30pm.
If Kent win, we are out and we won't be at Edgbaston on Thursday!
-
Those Somerset boys certainly know how to bowl at the death. Decent chance of making finals day and at the very least it’s good to keep the campaign going and see how some of the youngsters get on under pressure
-
Never in doubt :P
-
Got to be in it to win it - still .
-
Good effort to qualify. Birmingham a better team than us but who knows. We've played better away than at home this year. Won 5, lost 2. The 2 we lost at Somerset and Hampshire we probably should have won both so we've certainly had our chances in every away match.
-
Great atmosphere and real tension at the end. First time I've been to a T20 at the Oval, and I must say they do it rather well. Excellent win over star-studded opposition but quite the rollercoaster - when Pepper and Lawrence were together we appeared to be waltzing it in style, then we looked to have blown it, and then.. well you know what then.
Pepper was fantastic today, an exceptional innings.
-
I hope that six that Khushi hit is the making of him as a cricketer. Something like that can honestly be a career changer psychologically for a younger player.
-
Presumably Danny Boy won't play in the QF...because he'll be at the battle of Headingley.

Remember how Tendo became a different player after a matchwinning 50 in a one-day game against Middlesex? He'd never looked the part before that, and then.. well, again, you know what then.

Das or Westley to replace him?
Buttleman in for Rossington?

Derbyshire beat Warwicks twice so we certainly have a chance.
Anyone can beat anyone in this, guess those embarrassed by us going through won't watch? If we lose so be it but we are a small county competing well in all fronts so far, with off field distractions too which have stopped on field strengthening so well done.
As Jason says we should have really won 2 more games at least so despite our woeful bowling and fielding our all at them batsmen have done us proud. One day they will all fire and we will get 250.
Not sure why your so keen on Rossington nat . He is certainly due...not sure what though! . DELETED . In all seriousness he is due a score surely but think buttlemena should play and in the CC st stanley Park too. Sends all the wrong messages if Rossington comes back into the cc side in terrible form whereas buttleman did very well last time.
-
I am sure Anthony Gibson is delighted that Somerset's win secures Essex's QF spot!

Buttleman in for Rossington?
A no-brainer

Not another desperate ‘client’, eh Nat? ;)

Oh dear we find ourselves in the mighty qtr finals. Was this supposed to happen?
Thank you Somerset for not taking your foot off the gas.
I did not realise Kent were so depleted, losing Bell- Drummond, Denny and Kalashnikov.
Maybe this our year, it is T20 after all.
Well done lads.

It must have really hurt him to realise that - his loathing of us in beyond a joke and very unprofessional.
