The same squad as the Middlesex game and I'd be surprised if it wasn't the same team. Beating Somerset (especially Overton) would do nicely.
Harmer, Allison, Beard, Buttleman, Cook, Critchley, Das, Khushi, Lawrence, Nijjar, Pepper, Sams, Snater, Walter, Westley

Overton is being " rested".

Somerset won the toss and put Essex in. Unchanged side.
Khushi, Lawrence, Pepper, Das, Walter, Critchley, Sams, Buttleman, Harmer, Snater, Cook
Somerset:
Banton, Smeed, Kohler-Cadmore, Abell, Dickson, Gregory, Green, van der Merwe, Davey, Henry, Brooks
-
20 runs short.

Outplayed all over the park by a better all-round T20 unit. Simple as that really. Our spinners are really struggling atm.
Would consider swapping out Snater for Beard. Just please not Allison!

Looking like an easy win for Somerset now. That's not going to be good for the run rate.
A shame after Walter and Das rebuilt the Essex innings from the disastrous start.
I don't think I can listen to Gibson any more tonight, even though he's sounding as miserable as ever.

20 runs short.
OK about 100 short.
-
Key stat of resounding defeat. We hit seven sixes, five by Walter, and Somerset 16.
No real surprise, for them to rest calibre of player that Overton is, and still outplay us in all departments illustrates the strength of their side.
My final four are Surrey, Somerset, Lancashire and either Birmingham or Notts.

No fine margin in this comprehensive defeat.
Still next step up, beat the good sides. Still work in progress, but like previous post.
Young guns put us on back foot at start of innings, against top sides would be unable to recover. Need match experience and learn from actions .
