Hampshire won the toss and will bat.
Khushi in for Buttleman and Snater in for Sams (who I presume must be injured?).

Lack of nouse by Harmer. Snater should be batting higher up. 2 x 4s in the first 12 overs is not good enough.

Disappointing. Let's hope Lawrence comes back soon, probably at the expense of Nijjar.

There's something very wrong with our o/s recruitment. We could have had Chris Lynn. Instead we've got Daniel Sams. We recruited Mark Steketee when there were many better options out there.

This was grim, even grimmer being an eye witness at the ground.
The gulf in batting ability between the two sides was embarrassing.
Once Hampshire had passed 150, given our fragility in batting, only one result.
Not once did we exceed the initial asking rate of nearly eight.
A very dismal batting display matched the equally dank, dark, gloomy persistent drizzly conditions.
From ball one, we seemed to roll over in the most timid fashion, letting Hampshire’s bowlers dominate our shot shy batsman. Hampshire bowled well but we let them.
The main batting reminded me of schoolboy cricket. Khushi hit a very impressive six but then unmasked himself by flailing away, trying to repeat and mostly hitting thin air.
It was all so predictable. Hampshire knew that they just had to put the ball in the right areas and we would serve them up a steady supply of either catchable goodies or woeful wicket wrecks.
At least I now know where to level my expectatations. Modest does not even come come close.

Not sure why people moan we won a few lost a few. Such is T20 when you have a moderate side as you all keep saying. Anyone can beat anyone on the day and its a bit of a lottery who comes off and who doesnt, if Pepper comes off we seem to win, some for us consistently failing, buttleman nijar westley etc and should/have been dropped.
kent won it last year and a re bottom this year, we won it from no where. the amount of different winners shows this. Yes a couple of teams are often consistently good one season or another but can still get beat. Leics are truly awful yet have won a few. We dont help ourselves either cook, by far our best seamer as shown in recent games only bowling 3 overs? wouldn't have made much difference but doesn't help matters. Critchley looks a star in this format though

How do you know we could have had Chris Lynn?
Didnt see you naming better options to Stek. In hindsight he was dire. On paper, the leading shield bowler and fringes of test team he should have done well. Sadly he didnt

Steketee now playing for Australia A v. Sri Lanka A. Took 2 expensive wickets during recent victory, yesterday, in very high scoring game, opening the bowling.

kingstonj1 I think your summary of 20/20 is very accurate. The one thing that annoys me is that the north group is so much weaker than the south. Last season all 4 finalists came from the south. You can never predict the qualifiers from the south but in the north it is nearly always Lancs, Notts, Birmingham and Yorkshire. Time for an open draw to shake the tournament up.

But isn’t that levelling up The North? Makes sure the favoured Test hosts get through…

Yorkshire have made the quarter-finals once since 2016. You of all people should know that.

No idea why Westley is batting in the middle order. He is not a finisher and in a run-chase, cannot clear the ropes. He should open as one thing he can do, is play some authentic cricket shots and piece the infield during those first 6 overs. It has been painful watching a clubby like Buttleman opener, same with Kushi last night. And as for Rossington.....

Agreed. If he is going to play it's as a top order player. His record is not bad, although it has been a bit worse over the last couple of years. If Lawrence was around and Wheater hadn't sulked off then he would almost certainly not have been picked at all. With one of them around Pepper, Critchley and Walter would all move down one. We dont really have anyone else suited to number 6.
