Title: Hampshire (H)
Post by: dazedpenguin on May 31, 2022, 12:27:04 PM
Just don't call it "Fortress Chelmsford"  ;D

Unchanged squad for the Hampshire game.
Harmer, Allison, Buttleman, Cook, Critchley, Nijjar, Sams, Snater, Pepper, Rossington, Richards, Walter, Westley

Maybe Snater for Allison? He offers more with the bat, although his bowling has not been suited to T20 in previous seasons. With Snater 2.0 who knows.

Snater is playing for the 2s at Garons this afternoon.
Khushi is batting well and taking Sussex apart.

He is taking Sussex *2XI* apart.

And in reply, Sussex 2s are taking Essex apart. Some leg-spinner I've never heard of got panned for four straight sixes. He'll probably be in the first team before the end of the group stage.

The seconds bowlers got totally battered!! Dread to think had Sussex batted first

Terrific win. Are we looking at a team that is greater than the sum of its parts (again)?

Bit of a battering that. Hampshire looked bloody awful mind. Having the crowd back at home probably helps a lot as well.

Excellent win and a fine team performance, Great innings from Michael Pepper. 75 is his highest T20 score. Also impressive all-round performance from Critchley.

More of this please.

There’s a football crowd chant indicating just how poor the opponents are if they’re being hammered by a poor team?

Delighted that Matt Critchley is proving what an excellent signing he is. Could well turn out to be one of our best recruits ever.

Ah yes, said chant was rife during the Roses match. I'm hoping the Chelmsford crowd are saving it for Surrey's visit, although when taking into account the West Ham contingent among Essex's support, the chant will likely be used to express how massive we are instead...

Very early days, but I can see him playing white ball cricket for England if Moeen gets injured and/or Adil finally calls it a day.
