Nothing definite yet. Faragher says he's very optimistic and he thinks he will be here next season.. Stephenson said he's meeting with him in a couple of weeks and he'll hopefully sign a contract then.

Thanks for the comprehensive summary and to those who asked questions.

Someone said in the q and a, in response to the CEO's statement about the financial viability of festival cricket, that the largest gate in recent years was one of 12,000 at Garon Park for a Sunday game v Somerset. I was at that game and there were a lot of people there. Is that figure of 12,000 right?

Other counties make out grounds work.
I guess fold up chairs are more expensive in East Anglia.

Many thanks for the informative summary bwildered.
-
"looking at overseas signings with availability and fixtures key." - Makes sense, and of course we haven't gat any confirmed fixture list yet, so that may explain the lack of any overseas player announcement. O

Regrettably a lot fewer counties have festival weeks than used to be the case. A great loss, IMHO. All down to money I suppose - unless we can get a generous sponsor to take us back to Colchester, Southend or wherever, I don't think festival cricket will return to Essex. Sadly.

Other counties have local financial support e.g. Tunbridge Wells PAY Kent to go there. Colchester aren't interested ...
-
They need a one day game, tagged onto a county game, to have any chance of covering costs.
The chairman said Colchester week cost the club £40,000 and that loss was not viable.

Probably JF is about to become an un-person. This must be what it was like during the Spanish inquisition.

Very positive news - the unwelcome presence of this individual appears to finally be at an end.
