Title: Sunday T20s
Post by: IlfordEagle on July 23, 2019, 10:49:02 AM
As in many previous years we don't have a home T20 game on a Sunday, although a few other Counties are similar , a number have 2/3 such as Worcs(maybe to compensate for not having floodlights), Hants, Middx (using outgrounds). I wonder why we don't get allocated any - do we have any say? The Sunday games I have attended have a much more family orientated audience with far less p***heads which is very welcome & the atmosphere is different , of course Chelmsford has been full on these occasions.
Surely when fixtures are decided it would be easily possible to ensure every County gets 1 Sunday home match particularly with the groups being played over some 6 weeks etc. Can anyone shed any light please?

Sunday T20 games are almost pleasant.

Bet the club don't shift much beer though.

This is the problem with a County who states that it is a "members club", yet never consults or listens to their opinions.
Sorry to hark back, but it wouldn't have happened in Peter Edwards' day!

Not enthused about the idea of a Saturday evening game, either. Even before the weather turn a turn for the worse! And, although this is the wrong thread, was the Women's game an evening one. Anyone know what the attendance was?

It started at 7.10pm last night, saw bits of it on Sky & the ground looked approx half full, pity the game was so one sided. Apparently Eng Women love playing at Chelmsford which might be why we get at least 1 women's game per year.

The club claimed a sell out. They are fast becoming the Soviet politburo of cricket.

It looked a lot more than half full to me.  Although there were quite a few empty seats for sure.  A lot of people obviously got tickets and didn't turn up.  I'm not sure why Essex would claim it was sold out the day before if there were tickets available.  Forecast was good last night and I'm sure they could have sold quite a few tickets on the night if they were available.

Puzzled as to why 'a lot of people obviously got tickets and didn't turn up'?
I'd have a sneaking feeling that No Change Essex, ever desperate to cosy up to the ECB, claimed a sell-out in order to increase their chances of getting further England Women's internationals at the ramshackle Chelmsford.
It won't be too long before the ECG in its current dilapidated state will not be eligible to host any such matches.
Just as well our forward thinking, proactive Club are going to make it; "The Best non-Test match ground in the country !" ::)
