Saw an article in the Daily Mail yesterday suggesting that 10 Counties (Derby, Essex, Gloucs, Kent, Leics,Middx, Northants,Somerset, Sussex & Worcs) ie those not likely to host T20 Franchise matches from 2020 have got together to question how/if etc County T20 will be promoted by ECB in future. Almost too late for that as the ECB don't care about Counties unless they have money & massive grounds & are prepared to sell their soul for quick money, obviously Essex & Middx were right to flag up opposition initially as it looks more & more like the £1.3m per season 'bribe' sorry payment to Counties is just a sweetener with nothing thereafter except bankruptcy/oblivion.
Good that they are joining together but maybe too late, I hope not.

Amazing that it took these counties so long to cotton on !

The year 2020 is still a while away. Lets hope this whole nonsense collapses long before.

Maybe the Ashes debacle might change priorities... but I'm not holding my breath.

Could do with another Kerry Packer. Didn't like the bloke but someone who could back a rival competition to the ECB, which isn't fit for purpose.

I know most on here are not t20 fans but there was also an article in The Times today suggesting that players would not be allowed to play in more than three tournaments a year to prevent them from becoming white ball only. This would seem to be an attempt to keep the longer game going with better players having to play the four day game as well. I’m not sure how this would fit with restraint of trade legislation but it does seems someone realised that we are heading towards the end of the longer game. Probably clutching straws but hey ho.

Yep read a report on it. It won't fly for reasons including restraint of trade. The only way for the proper game to survive is to pay the players top whack.
