Title: Bowling Coach Vacancy
Post by: jwb on August 31, 2017, 02:47:20 PM
Could we lose Chris Silverwood to England now that Gibson is off? Think he's been involved with them in the past in some capacity.

Get Gillespie in...although the burger van might have to move off site.

Gillespie has declared that he is not interested.
Word is that Silverwood is the one they want.  😥

It was on the front page of the cricket newspaper this week that Silverwood was tipped for the role. It said that Jason Gillespie said he was settled in Australia and so did not want the job.

Yet the BBC stumped programme topped Jason for the role, and Silverwood was not even mentioned amoung the contenders.
Proves that no one knows apart those who apply for the job!

Thanks very much

I've just had a read. I'm not sure it would be much of a step up would it? Although, of course, it would get him in the England set up. Interesting that it states we have a succession plan in place

If Silverwood carries on as he is I suspect his aspirations would be greater than a mere bowling coach.

Funny how we (mostly) all criticised the club for going 'in-house' when Larry left.

I suspect the succession plan is McGrath as first team coach and, I hope, Masters as bowling coach.  But hopefully we'll keep Silverwood.

I notice that de Bruyn has left Leics.

Opener Angus Robson left before the season had even begun, veteran seamer Charlie Shreck retired rather than work with De Bruyn - though it was claimed injury was the prime mover for Shreck's decision - and there were suggestions six or more players would leave at the end of the season if De Bruyn stayed in his job.

now, if we could suggest him and get him installed ASAP that would be great. Just off to call Old Trafford cricket ground...

Dave is highly unlikely to leave the family building firm.  Napes however...... 8)

I bet he'd do a better job of the redevelopment.
