Yes, we've been awful. The BBC cricket page shows a clip of Amir seething over Taylor not picking up an easy catch.

Horrible performance. Amongst others not impressed by Taylor...either fielding or batting.

Rob Key on Sky TV is enjoying putting the boot into Essex.

Taylor is crap worst cricketer I've ever seen, averages 15 in second team cricket

Got to be one of the worst, embarrassing and unprofessional performances from Essex ever in the T20 Competition. How can you go into a T20 Match where your "tail" starts at number 5 ??  Three dropped or missed catches yet again. Looks like we have clinched bottom spot. Based on this Years T20 performances I wonder how the sale of tickets will go for next Season.

Tickets will still sell. To the great unwashed the result is almost irrelevant. It's how many lagers you can throw down the throat that counts.

The home match performances this year have been ok.  Three wins and three losses.  Two of the losses went to the last ball and the other.loss was last night which was a good match.    We could easily have won all 6.  I'm not sure crowds will be affected.

Silver lining -  Somerset have qualified for the Notts hospital pass.  We get a week to hone our red ball skills and they have a week of CBW practice and a probably fruitless trog up to Nottingham.

Flicked back & forth during the evening so managed to miss some of the dross but that was truly abysmal & to be honest we have never looked like qualifying throughout & never remotely deserved to either.Very poor tonight & arguably the worst fielding for years, even the younger ones don't seem that good any more!!
I have said it at the end of each season but now more than ever we need to totally rethink our approach as our ideas are clearly wrong at present.

Another slver lining - neither Sussex or Kent went through.

Next season with Westley back  after being discarded by England, an additional overseas batsman, and Zaidi  given his marching orders, we could have a competitive T20 side.

The bowling and fielding are as bad if not worse than the batting.  Porter is terrible at twenty20 and Foster shouldn't play one day cricket anymore either.

For starters we're the worst fielding side in the country and it's unacceptable. We've also only got one consistently good T20 bowler (I'd have said two before this week but Bopara decided not to show up for the last two games).

We're a batsman light but our bowling is so poor in this format that firstly we need to get Amir back, and I'd be tempted to sign another oversees bowler next season to go with him because I can't face another T20 season of Porter and Walter (sorry I don't rate him, he has one good game every five and goes at over 15 an over on a bad game). A Scott Styris clone would be a perfect oversees for us right now. I hear Myburgh is being let go by Somerset at the end of the season, he'd be an ideal signing for us as a limited overs batter who can open or go in the middle order.

Either way we need major surgery in T20 and it's going to take a serious job to fix it.

Can't disagree with any of that really apart from the last line! I would much rather no major surgery takes place and we have another pathetic T20 campaign next season if it meant we had another CC season like this one! :)

Who cares about t20?

Crowds will still come in for home games as its not about the cricket.

I couldn't give a damn about it, the CC is all that matters.
