Danny/Starfish has requested that any questions regarding ticketing be addressed here (presumably so he can answer those queries ?)
For the record, regarding reserved seating he wrote:
There will virtually be the same number of unreserved seats for Members as in previous years, still at the £11 price.
-
Danny,
I am a member and for 20/20 always sit in the unreserved area near the sightscreen / spinners bar.
Can you please confirm that, to sit in this area, I will still be able to buy tickets for £11 without having to reserve a seat.
If so, has the club changed their mind, as when I rang the club I was told that the only unreserved areas would be inside and in front of the pavilion, and a small area at the Hays Close end. The website also gives the same impression.
Many thanks
-
Thanks, we are reviewing making a small area available in that area you mention. What we want to avoid is Members rushing to find a relative small amount of seats. Will confirm ASAP. We are urging Members to secure their tickets ASAP - with Friday night games and a slightly reduced capacity demand is obviously going to be very high. We had a number of health and safety considerations when making these decisions, the most important factor is safety.
Worth pointing out, we have opted to keep the £11 rate for Members, this will allow virtually all Members who purchased a T20 ticket in 2013 to do so at that rate. We want to improve the experience for everyone, less queues, more families.
As always, we are here to listen. Thanks, Danny

Well the announcement and FAQs are confusing. I think some clarity would be good for everyone.
-
Thanks for post, please let us know any other points that need clarity, thanks for your time
-
Ther has been no mention of where the unreserved seating for members will be at Colchester, for the T/20.
Has it been decided yet?
Thanks
-
Danny.
I appear to sit in a similar position to Antares. The question is not about unreserved seats for Members, but the reduction of unreserved seats available in the open areas.
As you imply, to make only a small area unreserved will lead to the aggro we saw last year. We had officious stewards removing members bags, to give late comers a seat. A life member had wine thrown over him and a nasty atmosphere created
Friday nights are a problem, but forcing us to pay £7 extra to sit at the river end is not the answer.
Could a members section in the River stand be an answer?
-
Thanks for post, feedback has shown us that people want to have ease of entry, not Members battling over seats, we are reviewing seats in that area to be made available. sky TV reduce this space for certain games, hope that helps answer? Thanks
-
We want to improve the experience for everyone
Sack Grayson & his cronies then.

I am a member and will probably obtain a ticket for the t20 game at Colchester. Can i purchase this ticket for £11.00 and can i sit anywhere in the members enclosure or is some of the area reserved?
-
Thanks for post, there will be a members unreserved area and some unreserved, when you book we can confirm exact areas. At present we are looking at adding more stands for this game, hope that helps. We have allowed 1000 Members tickets at the less than half price amount, thanks
-
Can you tell me when I can buy t20 tickets as it says in Cricket Magizine Feb 1st but on your web site they can be brought now?
-
Thanks for post, members can buy now and we have a very small number for sale via phones for public via our four games for the price of three and season tickets. Tickets go on sale to over and out enews subscribers from 1st February, hope that helps? Thanks for your time
-
Danny
Has there been any more thoughts on T20 seating at the river end.
For the last 10 years our group of around 8 members have sat together beside the sight screen. This year we will have to pay £7 extra for the same seats. That's an increase of about 64%
My compromise would be to make the upper river stand members only, maybe at a lower reserve price of £4
-
Thanks for post,
We are awaiting confirmation from Sky with regard the river end - will confirm asap.
The £7 has been agreed by Committee and has once again been frozen. Thanks for your patience
-
The £7 has been agreed by Committee
Another reason to boot them out?
-
To clarify the river end stand and the two adjacent blocks are unreserved seats, we cannot reserve them as we do not know the space or precise space Sky will take up. Obviously the ground is an open ground for t20 games, any queries please shout
Thanks, Danny
-
Danny
Thanks for reply. This is a change from all previous statements which imply the whole river end is reserved. Also are you saying the upper river stand will now be unreserved.
Your last reply almost returns us to last years arrangement, so what was all a fuss about.
Thank again

Rather that that an apologist who can't spell.
Although I suppose those afflictions would help explain the interest in 20/20 ...
-
Sorry for confusion, river upper stand is reserved, thanks
-
Danny,
Do you know when unreserved members tickets for T20 at Colchester will be on sale. As there will be only 1000 members tickets available, we want to get them sorted ASAP.
Also is there a map available of seating areas for Colchester T20
-
Thanks for post
I am on annual leave this week please can you send your email to questions@essexcricket.org.uk
Members can secure their tickets now and the over & out priority is now underway
There is a Colchester ground map online
Any queries do shout, thanks

I am a non member and wanted to buy a couple of T20 tickets. I went into the ticket office today and was informed that cheapest non members ticket is £29!!!!! At which point I turned around and walked out!
I am a pretty certain it was only £21/22 last season, so that is a massive hike if true. Was this a mistake by the girl at the counter???
-
that is a massive hike if true.
Despite the flannel from the club about healthy membership renewals they've obviously got to make up the shortfall somehow.
Nigh on 30 quid for Crash-Bang-Wallop is pushing it though.

Evening
Thanks for post to clarify we have grass area tickets for £23, great view! Close to the action
All other areas guarantee a seat, thanks, any queries please shout

Danny,
What happened to all the unreserved seating you promised in Parkway Terrace and Lower River Stand. Has this been changed.
Supporters have made decisions on what tickets to buy, on the info you gave.
-
Thanks for post,
The River Stand is now a reserved seating area. The 1EasyCall Stand (parkway terrace), blocks 1 and 2 will not be released until nearer the game, once we know pitch allocation and Sky gantry position. Blocks 3 and 4 are reserved seating areas areas and proving very popular.
Members can sit for the £11 rate in Hayes Close, Pavilion or Pavilion benches. Plus can opt to sit on the Eagles Grass Area for no additional price.
We have made approx 900 seats (that is the average T20 Membership take up) available for each game, 1,000 for Colchester.
Appreciate this is a slight variation from January post but mirrors website content and Magazine content.
We are here to listen, so any queries please let us know via questions@essexcricket.org.uk. We can change a booking at this early stage for Members and their guests. The above had to change to allow Members to pre book and guarantee their seat, with two games starting earlier (see fixtures) we listened to feedback where regular requests were made for River Lower (and upper) to be reserved. Sorry had forgotten to update this thread.
We are doing all we can to ensure T20 fans and Members have a seat, we have reduced our capacity to improve the overall experience. Thanks, Danny
-
although as a member i can get a ticket for £11 there seems hardly any places to sit apart from a few odd benches. We used to sit in whats normally the public section which had a few blocks as unreserved as half a decent view which is what you need with kids, seating in Hayes Close etc make viewing awful unless you get at the front.
Members reserved tickets are £18 - what about Junior members is this £18 as well because as a junior guest is just £15. bit confused. Think these prices are shocking for kids to be honest!
With the new whooping £29 prices for non members i expected alot of the reserved sections not to fill, will these be released as more non reserved areas?
-
Thanks for post
We have introduce this new reserved seating policy following strong feedback from members and supporters. With this new approach there is no need to arrive hours in advance to secure a seat. With one game starting at 5.30pm this removes the need for many to take time / much time off work.
We had in recent years a scenario of several hundred supporters battling for seats, creating for a poor experience.
Members can sit within the Hayes Close End, the pavilion benches or opt to apply for the Eagles Grass area for the £11 rate.
There are no more seats in the Hayes Close End. To date we have received encouraging feedback from ticket buyers and sales are very strong, the second highest in the country to date.
Thanks again for your time, Danny Macklin, Commercial Director
-
can you clarify the question regarding kids junior prices pls?
also if you want an unreserved seat surely you would still have to get there early to get a decent seat?
-
Thanks for post,
A Junior Member pays £11 for a ticket or £13 for a reserved seat. Please see price grid on https://www.essexcricket.org.uk/tickets/#t20
If this does not make sense please shout.
If Members opt for an unreserved seat yes they will need to arrive early. thanks
-
thanks, it was only the lady in the office gave me the "t20 blast priority booking form" which is on the back of the 2014 member application pack and there is no mention of junior members on it. Just double checked and there is no £13 option so may cause a few issues
-
still dont know why Essex need to charge for reserved seating (apart from a big money making exercise). When you buy tickets for any other cricket or football match, theatre tickets etc , you pay for the ticket and get a seat allocated!
-
£25 at \lords for s double header on Saturday and £5 for juniors - that's good value. My lad and I have 2 seats in the Grandstand for £30. As Essex members for reserved seats we'd pay more than that for 1 game......
It's good for us as I lived in Sussex for several year and my lad was born in Hastings so although Essex diehards we like Susses as a second team
-
£25 for adult and £5 for a child is good value for 2 games! I just tried to call to get tickets for this Friday as a member and would still cost me £29 adult & £15 adult for the one game at Essex!
