Title: 2016
Post by: Slogger on December 28, 2016, 03:48:20 PM
It's been a funny old year. For me the joy of promotion was tempered by the demise of the Colchester festival. The club seems to be no further forward with the ground re-development and the move to big city cricket makes one wonder if there's much point in going ahead with at all. I have two abiding memories of the Summer - RTD getting us over the promotion line v Glamorgan but also that golden final afternoon at Colchester lit up by a Napier century. And it probably was the final afternoon at Colchester. Happy New Year everyone.

I was able to get to more home matches this year so that was a plus.

My highlights from days I was there:
* Quinn's wickets at Cheltenham and Lawrence's century - fortunately I missed day 4!
* Record for highest score without anyone getting a century broken
* Being at Canterbury as Champions and getting sprayed with champagne in the team's celebrations.

Happy 2017 everyone   :)

Well said re above, best moments must be RTD getting that 2nd batting point in boiling heat v Glam (incidentally that was a great match overall!!),Tom's magnificent 254 v Worcs & Hoddy's superb 7-52 emphasising how we will miss him, many other wonderful moments & HNY to one & all for 2017.

Sept 13 pm -  promotion secured by the Captain,  who lead from the front all season .
Lets not forget the vistors, but not the kit van not turning up on the first day in the same match .

A Colchestrian scoring a century in possibly the last Colchester cricket week .
