Only 3 Essex players in the 50, beard in th rebranded u19s, Lawrence on a o/s placement and Westley in the lions proper.
Bit dissapointing foo Porter given his good bowling returns this season.
Dont think Browne can complain, very up and down season.

Geoff Arnold was at Cheltenham to watch a bowler [probably Porter] - unfortunately it was not a great match for him.

Some guy on another forum has done some figures (they are rough) but has got to about 60 of the players being from D1 and 17 from D2. Only Worcestershire have more than us from D2
Not sure how that reflects the strengths of the two divisions as quite a few of the players haven't played that much first team cricket. But, does seem a bit indicative of a possible gap developing. And it's not like football where when a team gets relegated many of their players leave
On Essex I'd have been very surprised if Nick had got selected. Jamie may be a little unlucky I guess.

Geoff Arnold also had 2 days at Colchester.
I think Porter has been battling an injury for a while and needs to get fit during the winter.
We need him fully fit for next season.

Porter has been down on pace for much of the season. Ironically against Glamorgan 2nd innings he had a short spell of bowling quite sharp ... and then pulled up injured.
