I attended today with about 300 other sad devotees and was surprised to find that we were not required by stewards to 'Zap in' on entry and 'Zap out' on exiting the ground. Presumably it's important when there are say 1000 in the ground to know who is there and who is not for 'safety reasons',but when there is a relatively small but significant few we can all be burnt alive or blown up and nobody will have a record. As this requirement is self evidently variable and therefore ludicrous can I suggest we refuse to observe this ridiculous ritual in future and save us the trouble of queueing to get out and being interrogated as to intended movements.

I rebelled the other day by zapping in but not zapping out. Felt on top of the world. I'm probably on some list of troublemakers maintained by MI5.

I zapped in but the 'shed' was closed at the end of play so I didn't zap out - I'm still there apparently!

The only real justification for scanning is to prevent people buying tickets on line and printing multiple copies to use on a T20 night, assuming the system is set up in such a way to identify it happening and alert the people at the gates which I very much doubt. As I only use a membership card or a proper ticket printed by the club, I make every effort to avoid scanning particularly if there's a queue for it. Just walk in waving your membership card, the border guards won't do anything.
