Cook’s back!
« on: June 05, 2015, 03:11:09 PM »
Cook’s back with Essex for a while. Which is welcome, although I find it difficult to fully endorse what’s on the Essex website about it, and I quote "Alastair Cook will make his awaited return to the Essex side after a triumphant couple of weeks for the England Captain which saw him hit a century against New Zealand, surpass Graham Gooch as England highest scoring Test batsman and then becoming the youngest player in Test cricket to reach 9,000 runs.”

The series against NZ, while I agree that personally he’s done well, can’t surely be described as a “triumph” for him as Captain. But I suppose we’re used to this sort of inapproriate hype from the official website.

He’s very welcome though, and I hope he scores a good few runs!

He's not playing in the 4 day game at Northamp though I dont think.  He's playing in the 2 after at home to Derby and at Gloucester.

The hype is what you get when the club marketing staff know nothing about cricket.
