What a mature innings from Allison, way beyond his years. Seems to be getting better and better. Good shot selection, played himself in on a tricky pitch and then showed his class with crisp clean shots. He spoke well in his interview also.
Good to hear how Sam is progressing. We need him back asap.
A match turning cameo from Mulder also. Without his innings we would probably have lost.
Some very tricky matches coming up and as every T20 game is something of a lottery, optimism for future progress always based on hope rather than reality.
Looking good now, let?s see how it plays out.

Wonder what Pepper thinks about Cox taking the gloves straight away after turning up.

Sounds like it's England that has decided they want him keeping.  About 3mins 20 in.

Still work to do in this group with Northants still to play who are unbeaten in there group, and two to play against Surrey , but at least we are not playing catch up has we have had to do previously.
Strangely return to red ball, when they said playing en block, inconvenient now we have got onto a grove .

Two stand outs from this performance, Bennett bowling into the block hole in the final over and Allinson creaming one over square without moving before or after, pure class.
Bowling better lines under pressure was the difference .

Not sure it's that strange.  England have two more Tests coming up on 17th and 25th of June and if they need players to come in from county cricket then they will atleast have the chance of playing some red ball cricket to prepare for it.

And Harmer doesn't seem very happy about it. Essex should tell England to shove it.

Going unnoticed,  but doing a decent job, is Akhter, who is our second highest wicket taker, goes at under 8 and over, and got 3 - 19 last night.  Has also taken 3 catches. Seems to be improving each match.

Not surprised, he's arguably the best boundary rider in the country in white ball cricket.

How on earth have they let Allison's contract wind down this long? Take whatever they're giving Dean Elgar and give it to him.

Or use some of his money. To buy Elgar a pair of glasses.

It's the way they do things now.  Under Stephenson they extended players contracts a lot earlier.  Harmer, Elgar, Cox, Thain and him are all out of contract.  I believe pretty much all the womens team signed 2 year deals and most of them will need extending aswell.  They never seem to be in much of a hurry to get them done.  Seems very risky.

The reason that contracts run down. Maybe that it is touch and go, whether the money will still be there. Now that would actually give the PCA, something genuine to complain about.

Especially since after June 1st, other counties have been allowed to talk to players out of contract this year. I think Elgar will retire and Cox will go elsewhere, so that might help them find enough funds to give Allison a decent contract offer and keep Harmer. Fingers crossed.
