Essex Ladies .
« on: July 25, 2024, 06:53:40 PM »
Looks like the Ladies have five home fixtures in the 50 over Championship in the next few weeks . But no mention of Meteor way being available .
Given that Essex have a franchise next season, will Meteor way be open for ladies fixtures and how would this impinge the current set up of restrictioned openings ?

I see that they've cancelled tomorrow's game vs Kent due to expected protests. Now I know some people think women's cricket is rubbish but who would make the effort to protest against it?!

Is that why the Middlesex match was called off?

Will be a cost measure probably. Ground's in the heart of the city centre as everyone knows. The club rightly have no intention of forking out for extra security/police to man the park in case a few planks fancy trying to cause some criminal damage.

Never realised a large police / security presence was required at such a fixture.
Was it cancelled on police advice ?

I don't think it's anything to do with the ground, it's more people having to travel through the potential protest to get there or get get home after. May put some off
