Probably turned up at Billericay wondering where the teams were. Switched to Somerset without informing members.
Indeed there is a small number, but a number nevertheless, of people who attend these matches (not necessarily members, they can be people who will just watch a match anywhere or are cricketing ground hoppers).
It is easy for clubs to be dismissive of these or even think of them as cranks, but the amount of money many put back into the wider economy through regularly attending cricket even if it is free to watch (travel, buying food and drink, in some cases even overnight stays) must be greater than the total spend of someone who just goes to one day of Test cricket a year. I know of at least one person who racks up around 100 days a season.
Plus it is enthusiasts such as them that also support the game by buying things such as the Cricket Paper, the Second XI Annual, unusual cricket books published by Pitch Publishing and so on.
