The ECB has turned down a proposal from Lalit Modi, founder of the Indian Premier League, to buy the Hundred and fund it through private investment. Modi is said to value the tournament at around ?800m.

The England and Wales Cricket board will sell stakes in the eight Hundred teams later this year and says the competition ?will play a vital role in the future of our sport?.

An agreement between the ECB and the 18 first-class counties has been reached over the distribution of funds from the sales, set to be worth hundreds of millions.

The eight hosts of the teams will be given a 51% stake, which they can sell or keep, with the remaining 49% in each team sold by the ECB.

All that remains is for the owners of the counties (15 are member owned) to accept or reject this agreement. I trust the members of all 15 counties will vote to reject.

'the next level'?  Who are they kidding?  Strikes me that this is where the 16.4 and the NHS has something in common - it's such a good idea that no-one else in the world has copied it.

The next level here is, of course, downwards.

That goes without saying. The only question is it for good or bad?

It won't play any sort of role if we vote to bin it.

You and other members might want to have a 'strong word' with the CEO then, whose been doing the media rounds these past few days banging on about how he intends to spend Essex's share of the dosh sticking more lipstick on the Chelmsford pig. No 100 opposition at the 'Cloud County Ground' that's for sure!

Members had a briefing on this recently and are well informed about Essex's position. The above poster clearly was not part of this discussion.

Correct, but I was watching Sky on Wednesday whilst our CEO was being interviewed by his old teammate listening to every word he had to say on national television.

Oh...and then we have this... https://inews.co.uk/sport/cricket/essex-40m-chelmsford-redevelopment-host-england-3076812

My opinion on the whole thing hasn't changed anyhow. If you can't beat em, join em.
