England 2027

(1/1)

essexfan548:
Interesting discussion on a potential England team in 2027:

The squad agreed with Daniel Norcross as chairman of selectors [Alastair Cook, Andy Zaltman + ] was:

"Ben Duckett, Zak Crawley and Tawanda Muyeye as the opening options, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook and Jamie Smith - that feels like a strong seven batters.
James Rew is our wicketkeeper. We've recalled Sam Curran. Our spinners are Rehan Ahmed and Jack Carson.
Our fast bowlers Sam Cook, Ollie Robinson, Matt Potts, Gus Atkinson and Josh Tongue.
I've chosen our captain, it's Ollie Pope. That is our 16."

Chef pushed for Dan Lawrence but was over-ruled

bwildered:
Have they already written off the down under white wash then ?

essexfan548:
No, they were reflecting on how many players there were from the last home Ashes and who might be in the next one.

Andy:
Suddenly we have to rebuild our Test team…so much for succession planning. I hope we don’t end up picking players because they fit a cookie cutter ideal bazball player. I’d hoped that Hameed would get himself together as I don’t think Duckett and Crawley both flailing at the new ball will work long term.
