County chairs renew ECB power struggle
« on: March 07, 2022, 02:11:07 PM »
Interesting article in today's Guardian

"England’s county cricket club chairs have launched a blueprint for the game that would boost their power and influence at the England and Wales Cricket Board, four years after the governing body’s restructure replaced them to improve diversity."

Improving diversity = exerting top down control over ‘the game’ by the ECB?

Clearly there is a disjunct between the male, pale, and stale nature of the county chairs and some of the ‘outmoded’ discourse, but the ECB senior management hasn’t been that inclusive in its own composition - The Hundred appears to be a classic example of Groupthink.

I reckon the counties want a premier league style competition for the championship, with cups thrown in for them to run. The ECB gets the national teams and grassroots cricket, just like the F.A.
