Also an article here. - https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/essex-board-members-stand-down-after-failing-to-investigate-racism-incident-ct0ktchfp

It's behind a paywall but it says, along other things, about the QC report:-

Quote
It is expected that the full report by Newton will implicate former employees, including a past player and a former coach, and could include some damning evidence of the culture at the club under previous administrations.

Professional team environments are always/have always been a tough environment. QCs and the like will not have experienced such environments and will no doubt interpret evidence without the proper context.

Maybe. Having been castigated for asking over a decade ago why so many South Asian players were leaving the club whilst equally moderate white players were staying I may be vindicated.  It would be interesting to know how the likes of Boyce and Nobby got on - never heard anything about that era.

There is also a "related article" striking an altogether positive note, in which Nass goes to Leyton to interview folk about the Hub there for young South Asian cricketers, noting how comprehensively the culture at the Club has changed.

If you read the full report, the main points are:-

- Feb 2017 - John F allegedly made the remark. The report makes clear that John denys he made the remark.
- Jan 2018 - The Exec Board and the General Committee failed to carry  out an investigation.

The penalty arises as the board did not investigate this, as well the allegation against John. In one part of the report they but the word "all" members of the Exec Board and Committee to empathise  this.

It claims that John S has done in within his power to take action, but he was thwarted by the ECCC Board, paralysed by internal division. - it refers to a 'lamentable logjam' at Board level.

A proper pantomime all round.  Whole affair smacks of score settling.

JF claims ECB bullying. Will this be investigated by the ECB?

Our "offences" came to light after Yorkshire's but we have been punished. When will anything happen to them?

Agreed but there was a clear out at Headingley - albeit those who left may just have been in the wrong place/position at the wrong time…

The ECB said it has placed Essex CCC in a "non-compliance process" as they "have fallen significantly short of their targets and do not yet have a clear action plan to deliver change within an appropriate timescale".

As part of this process, the ECB said: "Essex CCC must provide an updated action plan for approval by the ECB and sanctions may be considered if sufficient progress is not made within agreed deadlines.

The wife’s available. She ticks two diversity boxes.

Presumably all meetings have to be held ‘down south’ and occur on a twice  weekly basis??  She neither knows about or cares about cricket, but she does have strong opinions. On most things.

Just a thought.

With those qualifications she is a shoe-in for the ECB.
