Oh dear, Tim Paine has picked up some bad habits to go with his awful keeping.  ;D

Some habits don't appear to change: https://inews.co.uk/sport/cricket/steve-smith-cheating-video-rishabh-pant-guard-australia-vs-india-test-824812

"Steve Smith has been accused of “cheating” again after a video appeared to show the disgraced former Australia captain tampering with India batsman Rishabh Pant’s guard."

It's in their DNA. Can't wait for the Ashes with Smith as captain and Paine or Wade as keeper.

Smith rubs out the marks, and meaning that the batsman has to retake his guard,. This uses up more time, when the Aussies are trying to bowl out the Indian lower order.

The Aussies now can't even cheat properly. Muppets. Smith should have a ban for incompetent cheating

Surely he was trying to confuse the batsman and hope he didn't notice - Smith should be banned for breaking the laws of cricket.

There probably isn't a law against it, more's the pity.  Paine now saying Smith wasn't cheating, but why on earth would you be doing that otherwise?

Apparently the sledging was merciless.  Paine never stops, still at it as the bowler comes in to bowl, so Ashwin steps back.  He should have carried on doing that till Paine shut up - would have wasted even more time.  As you say, Andy, incompetent.

42.2 Level 1 offences and action by umpires

42.2.1 Any of the following actions by a player shall constitute a Level 1 offence:

- wilfully mistreating any part of the cricket ground, equipment or implements used in the match

- showing dissent at an umpire’s decision by word or action

- using language that, in the circumstances, is obscene, offensive or insulting

- making an obscene gesture

41.12.1 It is unfair to cause deliberate or avoidable damage to the pitch. A fielder will be deemed to be causing avoidable damage if either umpire considers that his/her presence on the pitch is without reasonable cause.

I think there's a case

So there is - but presumably you need the umpire to take action.  Might not have been drawn to their attention, as they may not have seen it themselves - think it happened in a drinks break.  Hopefully will be in the umpires' report.

Manchester.  Canvey has a lovely view of a gas refinery or two.

The fat that he used his sole to rub the ground shows he was not marking the crease.  He's 'shocked and disappointed' at the suggestions he was up to no good.

Is it because Warner has returned?  It appears that whilst he was banned the 'class' behaved reasonably.  Now he's back, the
'easily led' are misbehaving.  Maybe we send Tom Lawrence to stick certain people through a few tables in the Ashes.

He's only 'shocked and disappointed' because he was found out.

The standing joke for residents of CI used to be Yellow or Blue ? - Relating to which escape route they should use in the event of the Thames flooding, ironically I believe the routes joined BEFORE reaching the A13!!
I thought when Paine was appointed Capt it was because he was thought to be a more 'decent' type of Captain & person - is that possible with Aussies?
