Greene King 2020.
« on: October 02, 2020, 02:06:25 PM »
Two Essex players have been selected for the fictitious Greene King 2020 team of the season  Top run scorer  Sir Chef and leading wicket taker Simon Harmer make the side.
Bit strange that Sir Chef makes a 2020 side and Harmer also selected has team Captain, although not the skipper of the red ball County side .
Both well deserved. Perhaps the selectors had been in a social bubble with Abbott and Barmy Army chasers.

The 2020 part is referring to the year, not the form of cricket!  It's using the PCA rankings.

I always thought Chef was a decent 20/20 player.

We've had far worse.

I was at The Oval in 2010 when, in partnership with Mark  Pettini (remember him?), Ally put on 167 for the 1st wicket scoring a superb exact 100, if he played regularly he would be like Andy Flower was -  able to exploit the gaps in the field regularly & accumulate rather than slog.

That was my abiding memory.

He always played proper cricket shots without mid wicket hoiks.
