Amazingly we have won our first T20 of this year, last year our great qualification effectively began by winning at Hove with 3 to go, can we do it again? I hope so but doubt so! Come on Essex prove me wrong.
Yet more team changes but nice to see Westley & Lawrence get much needed runs at last.
Good job I'm sitting down digesting the shock of Essex actually winning a T20 game!!

That knock from Lawrence was one of the best T20 knocks I've seen in a long time from any player. Some absolutely unbelievable shots. It's a shame he can't do it more consistently.

Almost a year between T20 victories. Most welcome win, even the streaming was OK, but the insistence of a reply graphic nearly  after every ball made viewing difficult when other deliveries were then missed.
Hopefully the batters can get some form ready for more important competition ahead.

Also forgot to mention, there was over 60k people watching on the live stream towards the end when Wiese and Bopara were in. The demand is there, need to capitalise on it.

Obviously Sunset and Vine weren’t handling this stream...

Well we've done it again with a side that seems to be getting younger by the match - Well done the youngsters. I think it's a little too late ;for a miracle this year, basically we need Surrey to beat Susses tonight, if not then I think we are out: if only we hadn't lost 4 already!!

A win is a win. We're probably out of the competition but it's good to see a young side getting back some respect plus some useful experience.

Kevan James on commentary was very complimentary about Jack Plom. Another off the production line?

yep. He has been behind Beard, Allison and Quinn but it only takes 1 good performance to change a career. Ask Jamie Porter.

Essex beat Kent
Middlesex beat Sussex
Essex beat Sussex
Hampshire beat Middlesex
Surrey beat Kent

If all those results happen, we'll go through to the quarter finals on net run rate. Easy.....

Don't we also need more points than one of the other 3rd placed teams if we are 3rd in the group?

If those unlikely results happened it would mean Essex, Kent and Middlesex would all have 10 points behind Surrey and it would go to run rate.  Middlesex run rate is poor and so in this scenario of Essex winning the last two and Kent losing the last two we'd almost certainly have the best run rate of the 3 and finish second.  The chances of this all happening are very slim of course.
