Ignorant Yorkies
« on: March 19, 2020, 02:18:35 PM »
As we all know Yorkshire is a different place to the rest of the country. Astonishingly their AGM is still going ahead on Saturday despite all advice to the contrary. They have reduced it to 30 minutes as if that makes any difference to an audience of largely elderly folk. Also on the White Rose Forum they are currently going through the counties alphabetically listing their favourites. A good idea superficially but one suggested in the Derbyshire section Fred Truman!! He did not even know how to spell the name of one of Yorkshire's most famous players. He obviously thought he was being clever as Trueman played a handful of games for Derbyshire at the end of his career. Moving on to Essex. There is not a lot of love for us but one cretin suggested Bernard Julian. This typifies the ignorance of the average Yorkshire fan.

You can always tell a Yorkie. You just can't tell him much.

They are obviously not expecting many people - social distancing with 5 people is fine!

If they'd said Neil Smith, Paul Gibb, Gordon Barker or even Darren Gough I wouldn't have minded.

This is the problem with it being an old folks game. They could have streamed the AGM from an empty room online on say, Youtube with questions taken via the comment box. Unfortunately, most of the elderly folk probably don't even know what Youtube is, let alone know how to access the stream and post comments. Plus they're Yorkies so 90% of probably don't even have working internet! (sorry LeedsExile) :D

Your right Alex about the streaming. They said that they would do that and send a special code to access by email but 2 hours before it happens nothing has been sent. But they also said people could still attend. With all the new closures overnight it would be bizarre if the AGM took place.
