Well I trust we are all thrilled that Mr Graves has got a CBE. I'll leave others to suggest what the initials might really mean.

Good to see Knotty getting acknowledged. I’d heard a rumour that he hadn’t been too good recently, so it’s good to hear that he’s still around catching rewards - one handed, of course.

I am happy for Alan Knott but why give him an award all these years later? Just seems weird.

Agreed. Especially when Underwood was honoured back in the 1980s.

I had wondered whether sloping off to Packer and Apartheid South Africa may have had something to do with it, but his Kent colleague and Amiss got their recognition.

However, I’ve checked and can’t see anything for Tony Greig either. Nor has Geoffrey Boycott got a knighthood, apparently.

Boycott was given a knighthood in Theresa May's list after leaving office. He has not had the investiture yet.

I still prefer the awards after retirement rather than the current fad for awards at the drop of a hat. Current players, in any sport, will be queing up to be King or Queen if they carry on get gongs for winning anything, or even for a near/distant miss.

It is nice we can field a knight of the realm though.

Especially at Canterbury.  ;D

Lord Gooch of Leytonstone sounds better.

I agree, but at least he had retired from test cricket.

Another great decision by TM.  I’m resisting the temptation to say anything more.

Happy New Year everyone.
