Not a good night for Essex results but a couple of interesting stats arose:-
This was Essex's second worst defeat by runs (114) - the worst is to Somerset (143 runs) set at Chelmsford in 2011.
The worst defeat by wickets (10) was by Somerset in the match last year at Taunton.
The Somerset score of 225-6 equalled their 225-2 set at Chelmsford in 2011 and bettered only by the Sussex score of 226-3 set at Chelmsford in 2014
