Steve made an interesting comment this morning: having the Lancs v Essex match at a ground some distance away from either participants' home has some similarities to the plans for The Hundred. Of course, most matches, other than quarter finals (if they have such things) won't be 300 miles from one of the participant's home ground, but the Lancs supporters' journey may be similar to the distances some supporters would have to travel even to home matches. It is also at short notice, which won't apply to The Hundred (except quarter finals or similar), but on the other hand it is between two established teams with long-established fan-bases, unlike The Hundred. But it will be interesting to see how many are in the ground.
