People of the older generation have seen surprisingly more change than one realised. From test matches  only to one day cricket, then fielding restrictions, bowling limitations and bat technology.
Cannot see the latest fan base to have the patience for the future of the game .

But don't forget that this is a generation that watches Game of Thrones for 5 hours solid - which is far more tedious that Boycott running out his partners batting for a whole day.

Utter gobbledygook.  Cricket doesn't mean anything at the moment to those they're trying to attract and to those of us who already follow it, this tripe isn't cricket.

I don't know whether they've gone into the detail yet, but they do realise that everything will need to be simplified, don't they?  Fielding positions will just be close, mid-field and boundary, none of this short leg and silly mid-on nonsense.  Bowlers will have to be quick or slow.  Means of dismissal will be caught, bowled, broken the wicket (run out or hit wicket) and I'm not even sure that you can simplify LBW.  And there will need to be a whole new set of TV commentators who've never worked on cricket matches before, so that they don't use the traditional terminology by mistake.  Anything more complicated than that will put off this whole new audience they're so keen to attract.

Excellent post, you speak for all genuine cricket lovers.

Who needs this rubbish anyway.
My club had their first all stars session of the year yesterday. 19 under 9s with parents outside enjoying cricket basses games. Make the real thing available and promoted properly and they will come.

That's exactly what Steve and I said when this was first mooted.  The powers-that-be were banging on about the T20 not taking off as well as they'd hoped, so they were going to introduce a new competition with all the bells and whistles and free-to-air TV and lots of publicity, and we opined that T20 would have been a success with all that assistance.

They won’t go anywhere near Chelmsford. Graves hates us, we’re mouthy, not afraid to step away from the party line and have a rubbish ground (not the soulless bowls that the ECB love). They’ll go to the South West, the fact that they don’t have a franchise in that part of the country was strange in the first place.

We were watching the BBC News Channel this morning, just after 9.30am.  Sports news came on: football, women's football, boxing - everything but our national team winning a match abroad.  Does Mr Harrison know how the BBC regards cricket?

Lynda and Steve

Same as BBC Radio 5 Live. All about the Football Premier League games last night with about one minute of reporting at 8.59. But the '100' will solve this issue so no worries.

It’s because Sky have the rights so therefore they don’t acknowledge its existence. Interested to see that players in the 100 will have to pay 12.5 of their fee to their county for the privilege of playing in it.

Do they consider it a privilege?  They talk of 'drafting' them in, so it sounds like you won't get a choice, whether you like it or not.

No flying half way round the world to carry the drinks either.

Bet RTD is well up for it.
