Eng v Aus 1 day series
« on: January 21, 2018, 04:58:34 PM »
So Eng have taken an unbeatable 3-0 lead with 2 to play, pity this isn't the Ashes!! Credit where it's due though, always nice to beat the Aussies at any cricket match especially without using the Thug (Stokes ) who really shouldn't be allowed/be able to play until his Court case is over & even then dependent on the outcome. Doubtless others will have views on Stokes but his behaviour has to be reined in by ECB or he will continue in the same vein as before.

A  bit premature. Stokes has yet to give his side of the story. If it happened as indicated in the press then he deserves a medal not punishment.

Indeed, as George Dobell pointed out coherently.

Considering hundred up and four down, a wonderful effort by Buttler and Woakes to get three hundred  and Plunkett getting injured thereafter a impressive victory .
So got a blue rinse, total blue wash on the cards ?

Trouble is ...
... no-one really cares. Negligible coverage in the press and true cricket lovers are watching the South Africa vs India Test series which is proving fantastic so far.

Negligible coverage in the press

Not according to Stan Collymore.

Very creditable  4-1 win in the ODI down under. Only a frantic batting start in the fourth game might have seen a clean sweep .
Batting just needs to rein in when required, paceman more reliable in fitness . Morgan captaincy impressive . All done without Stokes ... who ?

All done today without three key bowlers/all rounders as well remember. If it wasn't for some pooor fielding this would've been a cakewalk.

Didn't agree with bowling Ball for 10 overs, I always like to see a sixth bowler employed just in case one of the main bowlers breaks down/gets a hammering - that's one thing they do a lot in T20 matches, al,out everyone turns their arm over...

Having said that at least Morgan is a capable captain. He's far batter than Chef or Root IMHO. Not sure I'd want him as test skipper, neither would he want it, but we've got to think seriously whether there's a better leader out there somewhere...beyond the neon blue.

Morgan didn't get an IPL contract so he may have to demean himself and make himself available for some 4 day cricket.

Neither did Tymal Mills.  From being the 2nd highest pickup last auction to no bids this time.  He's been getting hammered in the Big Bash.

Jofra Archer did get picked up and has put himself in the auction for the PSL as well.  Having already played in T20s in Bangladesh and Australia this winter he's going to struggle to make the number of days needed residing in England needed to become English qualified.

The IPL draft has a logic unto itself. English cricketers have long been out of favour whilst fairly ordinary Windies are treated like goldust.
