Lovely to see Yorkshire beaten by Durham and well done to Northants on reaching the final by beating Notts even without 3 of their star players, shame on you Essex, (beaten up by spin)

Is it me our do Northants look like they have been at the pies (not harming their T20 form).

Think Northants set themselves up with 20/20 totally in mind. It's okay to dig out Essex about their relative lack of success in this format, but posters wouldn't like it much (to say the least) if they thought that Essex were only interested in one particular strand.....

Northants have just shown (again) that winning a major trophy as a 'small' County can be done, that's twice in 4 years now & good luck to them, in the last couple of overs in the Final v Durham if that was us we would have blown it (Middlesex at Lords in RL recently springs to mind).
Northants have no real stars, although Duckett is getting more mentions now than ever, & they all work for each other with an obvious high team spirit & ethic.
I didn't watch all of it but a part of me just wished Essex could have been there...

I'm not much of a 20:20 man, but I watched both of the semis and enjoyed them. Part of this was supporting the underdogs, no doubt but what a treat watching  Ben Duckett bat and Mark Wood bowl. Has any other bowler completely shafted Joe Root so thoroughly this year?

Good to see Notts lose yesterday after dumping the lads who got them there with their "star" players...Hales and Broad both dreadful - what must poor Greg Smith be thinking...

If you were in charge you'd have really picked Greg Smith over Alex Hales?  I know he got 50 against Essex but he didn't have a great tournament.  Hales is one of the best 50 over/T20 over openers around.  Should Yorkshire not have picked Root and Bairstow over the "lads who got them there"?

As Bumble commented, "he's had a lot on his plate".

Would Essex have picked Ally if they had been there? Probably, in previous Finals days he hasn't let Essex down, agreed though it is a bit hard on those who get their Counties there though.

Jason, tough call isn't it - pick the man in form or pick an international player who has been in poor form all summer...

Yorkies decision was easier - Bairstow for Hodd straight forward and Root/Ballance came in for a couple of bowlers one of which had already joined our club the other a youngster who only played his 3rd t20 match of his career in the quarters!!!

Smith has played a lot for Notts this year.  12 4 day innings with 1 50, 18 white ball innings with 3 50's.  So 4 50's in 30 innings.  Hales made plenty of runs against Sri Lanka(3 50s in 5 Test innings) plus an ODI century in one of the only 3 ODIs he was fit for.  Then when Pakistan turned up with a decent bowling attack he struggled.  In my opinion he's not out of form he's just not that good.  Plenty of runs against modest Sri Lankan bowling and not many against good Pakistan bowling.

Rhodes is only on loan for the 4 day stuff.  He was there on Saturday and left out.  There's a good chance he'll play in the 50 overs semi finals.
