Kent - away
« on: July 22, 2016, 08:56:22 PM »
A good and necessary win. Master plays ... and the team wins.

6 pen. runs presumably for exceeding the time allowance. Poor.

Must win game at Lords next week.

An excellent result, pity we couldn't do that last night. Thursday should be good with a sizeable crowd, either us or Sussex v Glam on Sky - surely us as there is a lot at stake, it's in our hands 2 wins we qualify possibly in 3rd, 1 we could but only in 4th.

I do like Paul Newton and Nick Gledhill, i can relate to them both and they don't repeat themselves a million times like Don Topley does, well apart from mentioning  about RTD batting higher up the order.  I half exspect good old Don to do a sales pitch for some tour he is heading.   However tonight,   unfortunately Paul thought Northeast was was out when  he realised  later on  that it was the other guy batting. oops and also the guy on radio just before the game started had Essex down as already out of the competition. Obviously, he got it wrong and i found that to be unprofessional.  If he is going to comment on air he should be fully up to speed with the table positions.
Taylor played and so effectively  we had a 10 man team.  He surely can not being played for the experience or just for his fielding ability, can he? Who would you rather have,  Taylor or  'bad egg' Ryder?  I am not ante Taylor, i  just don't see the point at batting him at 8, when i/the sectors  don't have any confidence in him getting any runs in that position.  He is more likely to score a few at the top, but that is not going to take place.  Next week, ideally Ryder has 'recovered' from his so called calf strain and he plays instead of Taylor. And if Ryder comes off , we have  a very quick 30 runs at position 1, 2. or 3.

It is true that people are quick to write negative comments when things don't go right, i.e. when Essex perform badly
It is also true that when things go right, then there is an absence of postings, i.e. Essex won a match against their arch rivals way from home and yet barely a post of praise.
PS i think the match next Thursday starts at 6.15pm, whereas the only other match starts at 6.30pm, that may be an indication of which one SKY will televise.

thats the nature of a forum to discuss what can be done when things are not good. if every game is won there is nothing to debate and and analyse so this place would cease to exist.

this isnt a place to put empty praise. that would be pointless. if people want to do that contact the club, and tell them how happy you are or seek players out on match day and do it.

interesting,..... he says  "empty praise",,,,,,,
i would not describe it in that way, considering we just achieved a  thumping win, in fact the double in 20/20 over the 'enemy
i guess to whinge and moan when things go wrong come much easier to people or is this just an English trait.
A bit of praise when things are done right go a long way, for example, well done Captain for wining the toss and electing to bat on a beautiful sunny evening, that is what you should have done, i know, but you haven't  been doing it, well done !

this isnt a place to put empty praise.

Nothing in the Forum Rules to say that.

Forums naturally tend to be negative, but there's nothing wrong with being positive about something on here when appropriate. With ECCC there's often plenty to be negative about, on and off the pitch, but it's not always like that.

Odd that happyman slams negativity when instead of praising the players on the win he berates the commentary team instead.

Talk about wood for the trees.

VP, "berate the commentary team",  i like them  and have said so, i can relate to THEM, that was just little aberration, see how quick you are to incorrectly pick me up that point, ......
PS the guy who was hosting the programme before the the cricket, got it completely wrong when he said Essex were out of the competition but just had to beat Kent. He sounded like a twat, nothing to do with the Essex cricket commentators.

Personally I try to be critical in a constructive way if appropriate, I am also quick to praise when we do well & win important games like last night(if you don't believe then check my previous postings), I suppose it takes all sorts to make a Forum.

Who said there was?

all 'fans' forums are dead quiet when things are good as there is nothing to discuss and debate as that is the main reason such things exist, for people to debate and gripe and discuss not make hollow platitudes without adding anything more.

Ilford eagle is fair he praises but actually adds insight and formed opinion, often from having seen tbe game in person, unlike some who comment from afar and add nothing.

That's your opinion but nobody has any right to dictate what should and should not be on the forum as long as posts are within the Forum Rules. Can't say that I agree with everything that Happyman posts but that's irrelevant. His posts are as welcome as any other poster.
