The club better get a shift on with their T20 ambitions as it's very obvious what the new Women's Super League is a trial run for.

Not so sure.

The England and Wales Cricket Board is looking for venues, but these will not necessarily be current county grounds.

They'll be looking for smaller venues for this venture - I would say that Chelmsford ought to be perfect. Indeed, if they could get terrestrial TV coverage from the BBC it might drum up enough interest to make some much needed extra income for the club. Always go for the right-on option as even if two men and their dog turn up at first, it'll show the usefulness of lesser grounds. It could be a Trojan horse to benefit ECCC.

Isn't that because they bung them on before #UpUpEagles games.

The havent done that for the last 2 or 3 years.  The womens games are now normally played after the twenty20 part of the season has finished.

The Aussie game this year is free to members so I thought I'd might as well go along. There's precious little other cricket going on in the last fortnight of August

See this news story re the future of T20.

http://www.espncricinfo.com/county-cricket-2016/content/story/976907.html

it seems that the city based tournament   is on the table (again!). Do we know where Essex stands on this? Could this be the end of the T20 domestic game?

Silverwood better pull his finger out & win that silverware the club crave above all else then.

Not many opportunities left it would seem.

Why don't the club the bull by the horns and support the City Franchise T20 proposal as long as Essex (or Chelmsford or whatever) are one of the City franchises?  They could then be in the driving seat rather than trying to stop the bus from moving.  They remain one of the better supported counties especially in T20.

Acfield was pretty firm about needing to go there if we could. The platform was negative about franchising.

One subject on which I'm in full agreement with the 'Wise Monkeys'.
