After being cack for the entirety of their existence, the women's regional team that is meant to represent Essex won the 50-over cup. We're supposed to be inheriting the team in the winter but all of them are out of contract.
I watched highlights and the young captain who opens the batting (Kent youth unfortunately) looked a good player and is probably a future international (has scored pretty much all their runs across the past few years). The bowler who took all the wickets did well, just consistently bowled on a nagging length, drawing mistakes.
Can't pretend I've followed these lot much but apparently they've won about three T20 matches in four years, so I'd give those two mentioned above contracts and bin the rest of them off. Sign players up from our own Essex squad and bring in a top overseas from Australia/India like Ellyse Perry.
