England Lions and Under 19s squads for winter tours
« on: September 30, 2025, 10:29:10 AM »
Jordan Cox is included in the Lions squad, but no place for Sam Cook (and they picked Nathan Gilchrist ahead of him!). I also thought Charlie Allison was in with a chance too.

England Lions squad to tour Australia: Rehan Ahmed, Sonny Baker, Jordan Cox, Matthew Fisher, Emilio Gay, Nathan Gilchrist, Tom Hartley, Tom Haines, Josh Hull, Eddie Jack, Ben Kellaway, Tom Lawes, Ben McKinney, Matthew Revis, James Rew, Thomas Rew, Mitchell Stanley, Asa Tribe.

England Under-19s squad to tour West Indies: Farhan Ahmed (captain), Ralphie Albert, Will Bennison, Ben Dawkins, Caleb Falconer, Jamie Feldman, Matthew Firbank, Alex French, Alex Green, Manny Lumsden, Ben Mayes, James Minto, Isaac Mohammad, Sebastian Morgan, Joe Moores, Jack Nelson, Charlie Taylor.

Gilchrist is chief pie thrower. No George Hill (Yorks) is incredible and no Zaif (Northants) is pretty bad too.

In the u19s there are four players from Middx and none from Essex. Now we all know that representation is sometimes cyclical but for a catchment area the size of Essex (inc. East London, Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambs) then we should be doing better.

Sam Cook seems hard done by having done a great job as a senior pro last winter. I wonder whether he is being held back as a reserve or that he has upset someone in the ECB.

If the latter he may have a point although given his shop steward rankings I worry that his gob has worked faster than his brain.

England's players have been urged "to be smart and not get caught doing stupid things" on the Ashes tour by managing director Rob Key.

Smart bazball - lets invent a draw if appropriate .

Alleged bad behaviour, on tour, is not new. Len Hutton, described how snubbing a photo opportunity. He was accused of insulting the Jamaican Prime Minister. Fred Trueman and others, had complaints made about them over behaviour at an official reception.
