Candidates are: Kim Bailey. Peter Butler, Nigel Hilliard, Ian Patterson, Baiju Solanki, Brain Springall, Kate Walters ... any thoughts on them? There are three vacancies.

If you know him you would see the irony!

What's people's thoughts about the president being chosen by the committee and being appointed for three years. currently it's the members that appoint the president at the AGM.

Another organisation I am a member of, have a rule that when someone is standing unopposed they have to get a certain percentage of members giving them a vote of confidence to be confirmed in the role.

Despite what everyone may think about individual candidates, it is good that we are getting some competition.

I don't much like that change. My view is, that if he wanted to do it, Mr Gooch would be the ideal President and in many ways does already what I'd expect from that role (the Head of State as opposed to the Chairman's Head of Government). For example hosting various awards ceremonies. I've nothing especially against Accers but that's just my view and I wouldn't have minded a vote on it. I'm impressed by the Chairman. I thought he handled the deaths of Brian Taylor and Doug Insole well.

My membership pack still has not arrived as promised. As I cannot now vote I have suggested a partial refund as I am not getting the full promised benefits.

I went on to say that if the situation continues, I will be looking at a full refund.

Good luck with that one vim - when I became a Life member we were promised free parking at the ground.

I have not received a ballot paper either. I wonder how the results will be decided?

Daren you are too late to vote now. It may be worth monitoring to see if there are only a few votes seperating the elected and non elected.

I have been advised that my missing membership pack is being investigated. If I hear nothing in the next few days i will be requesting a full refund fairly promptly.

If nothing is received the next step is obtaining a County Court Judgement. It will be interesting hearing the clubs explanation of the breakdown in communication in court.

I believe the election has been organised by a Mr Putin of Benfleet.

I have received a reply.

It appears around a 100 members were affected. The packs were sent out by another organisation on behalf of the club, so it may be that Essex CCC are annoyed by all this as well.

I suggested that if the election result is very close, this should be looked into further.

Last year were all the candidates votes close to each other except for the one in last place who did a Lt Cmdr William Boakes RN Rtd of the White Democrat Public Safety Party impression.

My membership pack has just arrived. Including the two ballot papers for the committee and the AGM.

Reading the election literature. One of the candidates was involved a lot with Health and Safety before they retired. This is someone who had a reputation for blocking passegeways in the County ground with their stuff.

How did you get this information, Comrade?

I received an e mail with the results.

Messrs Butler, Hilliard and Patterson were elected.

The number of votes cast were not given apart from stating that there were a total of 786 votes cast.

The amendment to the constitution was also voted on and passed by around 90%

It's disappointing that they haven't announced the actual voting numbers considering some members did not get ballot papers.

All I can say is that Mr Hilliard's track record warranted his re election. I can well believe people voted for him in droves !

To paraphrase Mr Hilliard voting is overrated.

So, the existing committee members re-elected? No new faces and a shocking lack of diversity; would have been great to see Kate Walters getting onboard.

Why? Just because she is female rather than the best person for the job? PC.

A pot plant could do as good a job as Hilliard.

Probably better.

Sad to see that the Executive have returned to their undemocrati habit of not announcing the actual results. I couldn’t go to the AGM; attanding a funeral in N Cambridgeshire other wise I’d have had another go about it and recieved, no doubt, more abuse from the Chairman.

And I don’t often agree with mr V Park, but I fail to see why anyone voted for Hilliard, given his track record.

I would like to know, too, what the state of play is regarding the development.

Re your last query so would we all, but we were told that discussions are ongoing and to expect an announcement shortly. No doubt commercial confidentiality prevented anything else being said, but I did hope we would hear that this enormous waste of time and money was being euthanased at last. Seems, however, that the developers have offered some kind of further deal under pressure as the deadline (30 April I think) approaches.

Wasn't it all basically PR puff to persuade the ECB that we were aligned with their daft, unsustainable, policies to ensure 'sustainability' in the county game???

No the ground *does* need updating. However the development plan was, in the view of many members, too generous to the developers and not to the advantage to the club.
