At last. A win. Just shows how much we needed Ravi!
-
Sounded so comfortable on the radio, Ravi is just a class act, Tait sounded great too
-
Any win is a good win so well done.
-
A win is great - despite Glammy pulling the plug in order to get a no-result. Always good to beat the ethnics.

We were ahead pretty easily on Duckworth Lewis by that stage, they would have needed to pull the plug before 5 overs were up!

Perhaps someone should've told them...

Good win (at last), and as its been said, illustrates how important Bopara is to the team (especially in the limited overs matches). Our two "mercenaries" have been our best players for the last few games which once again just shows why we continue to struggle at the start of each season whilst they are "away".
Playing "catch up" once again this season but I do expect to see the results improve now we can put out a proper 1st 11 rather than the almost "A" team (with the batting) we've seen so far. Shame we have no spinner though!!...won't get away with it in the limited overs matches too often, I fear.
-
At long last, we can still qualify but realistically we now need to win 7 of the remaining 10 following defeat at Bristol today, do-able but little margin for error & if we are successful an away 1/4 Final looks likely - not such a bad thing with less pressure on us to win.
-
Our bowling isn't good enough. I think age is catching up with Masters and Napier and Malik doesn't seem good enough. Tate is always likely to be hit and miss and Topley is just back from injury.

Judging by the comments on the commentary today, our fielding this season isn't too cracky either!!!

Yes, creaky rather than cracky. Interesting to hear the opinions of the BBC Bristol guy - who was much more critical than the BBC Essex commentators of our play, including the throwing away of the first two wickets.

It appears the wheels are coming off in Essex's ever greater desperation to claim T20 success, before they're shut out of it for good.
Last seasons' set-in-stone 'tactics' of always chasing were clearly thought to be spot-on for this seasons effort, after 2014s near miss ;) In conjunction with that age-old ensurance that the batting line up cannot be tinkered with whatever the state of the game and the evident requirement to think on their feet. (An ECCC failing that goes back a long, long time).
Clearly, with the leaden-footed, risk averse, Grayson in charge (backed by the rigid, rigor mortis Cricket Committee Politburo) that's hardly any great surprise...although I would have thought RtD may have been a tad more innovative. It evidences that ECCC captain's are given no free-thinking options and have to follow the written tactics, no-questions asked.
No Change Essex better hope that Chris Gayle doesn't take a lining for the River Can next Friday night......

Creaky enough to see the floorboards through the worn-out carpet.
I was disappointed with Paul Newton who usually has form for being critical when ECCC perform poorly - (maybe he's been briefed by that incisive inquisitor; Paul Hiscock?) If Dick Davies had been there he'd have criticised as he saw it.
Talking of PH, is there the latest in the series of his hard-hitting interviews with the people who matter? Without doubt we will be able to take away several positives from it. ::)
-
Perhaps PH's friendly approach is a cunning way of letting the interviewee make himself look a pr@t?
-
PH is a decent, genuine guy.
-
Terrible interviewer though.
Although having to talk to Grayson on a regular basis can't help.
-
After 1 win from 4 games, I suggest that PG may have a hole in his egg basket.
-
Failure to qualify from the group stage may finally cook Grayson's goose.
Even if it isn't the club's main priority of course. ::)
