It was very odd.
Bopara 43
Ryder 11
Westley 7
Ten Doeschate 10
Lawrence 31
Zadi 11
Foster 0
Taylor 1
And to think that the preimiers got very close to winning, not a good night. Bowling looked poor, only 2 premier batsman down
Essex innings was 137/8

I didn't think they bowled that bad. A couple of very costly no balls aside. There was a quite a few runs flying down to third man and and fine leg off them. Although they should have taken more than two wickets against that opposition.
The batting was awful though. I don't like Bopara opening. I think he's easily our best batsman in the middle overs and if he gets out early then It's a problem. Zaidi and Lawrence at 5 and 6 makes us look a lot weaker than last year. I'm not convinced Zaidi is good enough to bat that high.

This Ellis-Grewal fella has been knocking around for a while in various county 2XIs. What's he like?

The loss of Pettini will be significant in this format.

Couldn't agree more, the loss of our record T20 run scorer will be crucial, he's also a superb boundary fielder as well.

Awful bloke, average bowler
