Membership 2014
« on: September 12, 2013, 12:51:13 PM »
Will be interesting to see what prices if will be for next year. The 2013 package was £155 for an adult.

In 2014 in comparison the differences will be:

the 4 day game against England will be replaced by a 1 day game v Sri Lanka.

6 YB40 games will be replaced by 4 x 50 over games

Unless you are a regular watcher of Championship Cricket the membership is not becoming great value as it used to be, with hardly any one day cricket (T20 is not included of course)

Quite agree sticky boy, Meteor way availability also comes into the equation. With only four 50 games unless placed at weekends, looks like poor value if increased next time round.
Although do not expect a England game every year, but took a huge chunk out of the membership for those who could not regularly attended through the season .

I've thought for a while that we don't seem to get many minor tour games (eg Bangladesh A etc) or Under 19 games. I've always thought it would be an idea to bid for one of these types of fixtures and tack it onto Colchester to mae a longer festival.

I'd be interested to know if Colchester is planned for mid to late August. Mrs Slogger is making noises about the commonwealth games and I'd hate to miss Castle Park!

Although not exactly a minor tour game, we are due to play Sri Lanka in a day-night 50 over match during May.

I'm very much looking forward to the release of next year's membership figures and deals.

Lets face it, we gave them about 10 pages of theory of how to change this up.  For me, still being in employ (well, most of the time), I haven't really had value for the last few seasons.

There really does need to be some kind of "working members ticket" for say £75 and then you pay a fiver on the day if you want to attend, but still get use of the pavilion.

I was seriously thinking of getting the life membership in the next year or so, given my fiftieth year is soon upon me.  There's a major decrease in cost from being 49 to 50!

Thanks for post, very soon we will be announcing 2014 Membership rates this will include Life Membership. This, for the first time, will allow you to purchase based on your exact age e.g. the rate of a 49 year old will only be slightly more expensive that a 50 year old rather than the current jumps. Hope that makes sense?

Also, Blocky, if you're ever unfortune enough to get done for a bit of 'Cyril Lord,' being 50 or over would entitle you to membership of a single 'hut' at that most veritable of HM's institutions, Ford open prison. ;D

Alas not, dear boy, Ford open prison is restricted to the confines of solicitors, bankers, accountants, directors, policemen et al, The uneducated, underpriviliged proletariat such as my goodself would be consigned to far less salubrious surroundings, ie. Belmarsh, Wandsworth, Wayland etc.

I have just received my membership renewal form, and the letter starts with "Dear prospective member", have they a crystal ball that tells them how unhappy we are with the membership deal, and cannot address us as current members.

Yet another (albeit small) error from the admin staff. Someone needs to get a grip.
